Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I just ordered my PSS9 Bilsten coilover Kit $3195 installed plus 4 wheel alignment.

Suggestion
you don't want to go with the stock shocks unless you use a lowering shock like bilsteins hd shock.

what are the opinions of just going with lowering springs and using the stock shocks...?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Chucksta,
Darren911 started a very similar thread about lowering his cab a day or so ago. Check it out...its got drop amounts, and other alternatives...
US M030 sport suspension does not lower the car at all. The RoW M030 lowers the car 20 mm in front and 10 mm in the rear.
If you really want it lower then your next choice is the PSS-9 coilovers that can lower to 35 mm front and to 30 mm rear.

Has anyone fitted the P96 "X74"Lowered Sport Suspension?
Is 40mm too much? I wonder if i can still go over speed bumps?
I found this into at carnewal:
Factory X74 retrofit that lowers the P96 40mm in the front and 30mm in the rear.
Only available for the P96 C2 or C4 coupe.
Comes with pre-assembled struts for front and rear.
Front and rear stabilizers with bushings.
Reinforcement parts.

If you have an ROW standard 996, your car should lower 30 mm all-around. This is about 6-8 mm higher than a GT3. All measurements are 10 mm.
what are the opinions of just going with lowering springs and using the stock shocks...? something like H&R
PSS9 seems excessive for street use and the odd track day...

At the very least, you should have the factory M030 shocks in good working order. Otherwise, replace them with a good quality aftermarket set.
you don't want to go with the stock shocks unless you use a lowering shock like bilsteins hd shock. Even at that it will never be perfectly matches as well as the shocks for the row kit or the coil over kits pss9's or h&r's. don't do it.
thanks for the advice guys.... that's what I thought... a friend of mine did it to his car and he is complaining about handling in the corners.... hmmmm so much for lowering your center of gravity.... he had the alignmetn done as well but I guess the rates of springs vs. shocks don't match.
Pete
Shorter springs are always higher rate, you have to do something in a firmer shock.
Anti-roll bars are springs too, but you could add some firmness there without necessarily making other changes.

Especially those which have an overly soft progressive stage. Typically, these are the springs that need firmer dampers to help against bottoming-out.
True enough, always ought to be. I guess people don't do so much of this nowadays, but cutting down any given springs does always raise the rate, i.e. take that route you need new shocks.
I just ordered my PSS9 Bilsten coilover Kit $3195 installed plus 4 wheel alignment. They will let me bring it in once within 30 days to adjust if needed.
Does that sound reasonable?
