Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

They had an auto-glass guy come in and he checked the rear quarter windows and found that one of them had some loose screws etc., so he tightened it up and they told me the car was fine.
Leading evidence: 'Check rear quarter windows and found' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'engine fan or some other fan' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check rear quarter windows and found' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I'm almost at 50,000 miles (over 49,400), so I need to get this repaired immediately.

I actually thought that it was the engine fan or some other fan that the A/C or vents use.
Replace pitch slightly if you increase the air-flow

The buzz gets louder and changes pitch slightly if you increase the air-flow from the vents too.

I phoned the guy that resealed the glass and we talked for a half hour and couldn't figure what it might be.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm hoping to get to the bottom of this tomorrow, so I'll let you know what I find and whether we get it fixed or not.
I have had this noise ever since my car was new, and I always forget to mention it when I have my car serviced. It is intermittent, and I just thought it was normal. Let me try to describe it.
First of all, ALL windows and sun-roof must be shut, and the interior should be quite warm, necessitating air conditioning. Now, when the A/C is running (whether driving or parked) there is a buzzing sound or a high pitched hum that appears to come from the rear of the cabin (or so I thought). I actually thought that it was the engine fan or some other fan that the A/C or vents use. The buzz gets louder and changes pitch slightly if you increase the air-flow from the vents too.
If you open a window or the sun-roof a crack, it stops immediately.
I brought my car in today, and I remembered to mention it to them. The technician thought that it was an air leak through one of the windows. They had an auto-glass guy come in and he checked the rear quarter windows and found that one of them had some loose screws etc., so he tightened it up and they told me the car was fine.
I picked it up, and lo and behold it started again when I was driving back to work. I phoned the guy that resealed the glass and we talked for a half hour and couldn't figure what it might be. So when I got to work and parked, I lowered my seat-back so that I could position my ear in various places to really figure out where the buzz was coming from.
I FOUND IT! If you follow a line from the seat-belt height adjustment to the hook/hanger and then about another 2 inches, the sound is coming from inside the ceiling (roof) right at that spot.
What could it be?
Have any of you experienced this weird buzz? I'm taking it back to the dealer tomorrow so that they can take another look, now that I've located the source.

I have that exact same thing. Mine is an 01 Turbo and has the older style seat belt relay. I don't know what it is but I get a buzzin sound from it.. always have. But I guess it's to be expected when we're driving hard in a such a stiff car

They have no idea what is causing the noise, so I've got to leave the car with them next Monday. They're going to try removing the headliner to see if they can find anything in there.
It was a drainage tube which runs in the roof (in the headliner). They snipped off a piece and then routed it a little differently and the noise is gone.
