Have a look at the photos (use the links) and I think the center insert is epoxy'ed to the larger full bumper insert which is epoxy'ed to the bumper cover.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm considering the GT3 radiator upgrade after I absorb the shock of the set of Michelin Sport Cups and Carrera wheels I just bought for autocrossing. Anyway, I don't have an aerokit so my plan is to use the front nose insert from a tiptronic car (which has a center air inlet). I figured this would be preferrable to cutting a hole in my standard insert. So, is this a feasible plan, and if so does anyone have a part number for the equivalent replacement piece from a tip? (Loren, that's your cue! ) Thanks.

Mike,
I updated my 3rd radiator page after Carrera Scott sent me photos of his standard bumper insert.
Have a look at the photos (use the links) and I think the center insert is epoxy'ed to the larger full bumper insert which is epoxy'ed to the bumper cover. Scott may be able to confirm but I think you can cut the center insert -- but the larger insert would also have to be cut out.

Hey btw Mike if you are going to do it yourself I would be willing to help you as I did mine, even though I initially didn't read the directions right I know how to do it extremely quickly now. Let me know I live in BH. Get if from gert he includes shipping and everything in the price. You can get the hose clamps from bh service on santa monica. I know a guy who works there and he gave them to me for free
also you don't replace the two side scoops as you can tell from the photo, you simply remove the center cutout from the black trim. The two side scoops help direct air through the radiators .

Tom 919,
Take a look at the link in my first message to Mike in CA (this thread). I first put my instructions on the web a year ago!
Sorry you didn't find them before...
Mike,
Just found the part number for the center insert...
you could replace the rubber bumper insert with: 996 505 553 0501C Air Inlet for Tiptronic. This replaces the original insert and installs across width of stock 996 bumper. Doesn't look as hard as I thought.
