Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Good morning All, quick question: For my 2002 911 Base Model -The paper tag under the hood says engine number M9603 662 096011 - 10 and the stamped number on engine is M96/03 662 01067. I am deducing that the current engine is not original, is that correct? Engine in Car

POST 2Original post

Take a picture of the paper under the hood and post it. That would help.

The numbers on your sticker are not the engine S/N, just the model code. M9603 is the engine code and 09601 is the transmission code. The only way to confirm the engine S/N is to run a VIN report. VinAnalytics can give you this info for a low cost.

POST 6Original post

^^That's what I was thinking. They didn't put the engine number on the paper label under the hood. A replacement engine would have AT in the engine number.

POST 7Original post

Actually FWIW ...those paper stickers are hard to read......the Trans code is G9601 ..so that line is M9603-662 G9601 -10

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, to all I got the vin analytic, It is the original engine and trans.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
