Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

A couple questions on subject: -Was the protection plate standard equipment on the 02? - Is there a after market protection plate available for the 02 996 3.6L ? Also any comments on the pro or con for installing the protection plate? POST 2Original post

I ordered one for my 99 C2. From what I understand the earlier models had exposed bolts on the oil pan that would cause considerable damage if they snagged on something. With my car being lowered I felt it was cheap protection. I also understand that the problem was addressed in the later models, but it may still be a good idea.

POST 3Original post

I would be interested in this as well. Do '02s need any protection?

POST 4Original post

I have one on a moderately lowered car (RoW M030) and I have hardly rubbed it on anything despite its being roughly 2cm closer to the ground than stock. It was cheap, no downside to it really on a stiffer lowered car. FYI it does not protect the vulnerable radiator lines by itself. There are two extra attached pieces at something like another $300-350 for that, almost exactly the price of new hoses and coolant.

It sounds like it costs more than the engine protection plate by itself. However, compared to sitting on the side of the road it may be worthwhile.
