Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Use too shallow, too small' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use too shallow, too small' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi All,
My wife and I are thinking about buying a 1999 C4 with 28K miles on it. It has had the various small fixes - seat belt latches, coolant tank, rear deck lid corrosion problems fixed. The asking price is 44,500 and the car is in allegedly great condition (perfect). This car is 1500 miles away, so we have only seen pictures. Before I take the next step with PPI's etc; What do folks think of that deal?
In addition, we drove a 2001 and from the pictures we saw some differences which we are uncertain of: There were cup holders in the 2001 and none, apparently, in the 1999. In addition the Trip Computer may or may not have been there - was that an option or did Porsche change the way it was activated - the 2001 had a stalk on the left side of the steering wheel.
Any other thoughts? This is intended to be a 4 season car for my wife - here in Boston.
TIA
Ray Bahr
I have an '01 C4 that I bought several months ago with 7,000 miles on it for $67K so the price seems reasonable. You will definitely want snow tires which means you may want a second set of rims to avoid switching tires and possible rim damage. You and your wife will love the car . .
Ray,
Some of the 'small fixes' were TSBs (recalls), so not a big deal. Have you seen the service records, was it maintained regularly? You can do a Carfax, get some info on the car, including which dealerships serviced it. Call them, they can give you some insite into the car's condition, but def. do a PPI.
Whatever you do, you should look into an extended warranty, as this car will already be off it (I think 99s only had 3 yr, not the 4/50k).
As far as the cupholders go, its an option you can put in, but having them in my car, I can tell you, you are not missing anything. They are of little use, too shallow, too small. Do a search on the board to find some better alternatives.
Not sure about the trip computer, may have been an option in 99, but its pretty much just a gadget, tho outside temp is a nice to have.
If you're gonna use it 4 seasons, 2 words SNOW TIRES. The car will do fine in the white stuff with the right tires, otherwise you'll be skating...
Good luck and welcome...
