Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The so called democratic free-nation we live in is putting up 16,000 of these big-brother devices in the next 2 years to add to the 4000 installed already.
Leading evidence: 'Install already' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Fill pcar it costs me 46' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

In toronto, canada they tried the camera for a while, the next mayor ran a campaign on removing them, he won by a land slide.

Actually, it's not really a detector, it basically monitors your location using GPS satelites (that we have you guys to thank for) and compares the location with a known database of camera locations nationwide.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

A few of you have asked to see some pics of my Pcar. I work away from home all week and just got back early. So had some spare time to upload a couple. Enjoy

It's only available in the UK as far as I know although I am sure teher must be something similar in the US. It's a GPS based speed camera detector. Actually, it's not really a detector, it basically monitors your location using GPS satelites (that we have you guys to thank for) and compares the location with a known database of camera locations nationwide. It's saved my license many times over. In fact it saved it 3 times today alone!!!!

Mass is an understatement!
The so called democratic free-nation we live in is putting up 16,000 of these big-brother devices in the next 2 years to add to the 4000 installed already. 20,000 cameras may not sound much but we are talking of an island less than the size of california here!
Cameras in this country were originally placed at dangerous black spots to curb speed. But the system has been expolited and its purely a revenue making thang now. Some detectors pick up 10s of thousands of pics a day! So the UK gov is making cazillions from this scam.
The only answer is to alr against it. So that's why I have all the devices.
A follow up on the gps camera detector. So I guess the point is to avoid being photographed at a second location sooner than you should have arrived there by legal speed limits. So what do you do when the alarm sounds? Quickly avoid that intersection where the 2nd camera lurks? Or just stop and await the alotted time til your average speed is legal? Sounds pretty awful.
redcab: AFAIK the speed cameras in the UK don't time you from camera A to camera B, they time you with a roadway sensor (pneumatic tube?) or radar and take a picture if you're speeding and you get a ticket in the mail. Just like the traffic light cameras in SF.
The "nice" thing about the cameras in the UK is they tend to be at fixed locations and as new ones are added the database is updated and can be downloaded to most of the detectors. Too bad if you're the first person to spot the camera but I know some companies offer a reward for new reports to ease the pain.
And ssssh about that average speed from pt A to pt B being calcuated from camera images - you'll give Big Brother ideas
Steve in FL,
Actually we have both.
Here is a very quick rundown on Cameras used in the UK.
Gatso: fixed install. Most common. Faces in the direction of travel. You pas the camera and if you are over the speed limit, the camera takes a photo of you. Since it faces away from you many laser detectors won't pick it up although you can sometimes get reflected laser of oncoming trafic that warns your laser detector. I think we only use ku band over here.
SPECS: fixed install. This is a no flash system and uses infra-red not laser. Faces opposite direction of travel. In other words faces you. It takes a picture of "every" car speeding or not. Further down the road there is another one. It does the same thing and calculates your average speed. If you are over you get a ticket. There may be several of them in a line over many miles.
These are the worst kind.
Truvelo: (DS2 portable but may be fixed). Typically they are attended by a police van. They use a set of three rubber hoses and at one end are Piezo-electric Sensors. If the speed accross the hoses shows your speeding the Truvelo camera gets you. They use laser but by the time you get notification, your done!
Autovision: Mobile install. These are cameras fixed inside police cars. They can connect to VASCAR 5000 systems and if they are they can screw five speeding vehicles a second! They use laser. Again, if they fire at you and you are speeding, you lose.
Speedmaster: fixed install. Similar to Truvelo DS2 except they bury the hoses in the road surface. The camera is just down the road. All you see is a big grey box on the side of the road.
There are also mobile Gatso's but less common. Of course there is also the good ol'e laser gun now hardly used at all since all the other systems work better.
However, if you get screwed, there are ways to get out of it (although I haven't done this myself). Apparently, in the UK we have two laws: One is you don't have to incriminate yourself and you don't have to incriminate your partner. So all you have to do is say you were not the driver at the time the camera caught you. So long as your partner says the same, it is impossible for them to figure who got snapped and so they drop the case.
If you get done, you pay a hefty fine depending on how far over the limit you were speeding.
Typicaly 60 but can be as much as 500! You also get points knocked off your license. Again the number of points depends on the offence. But typically 3 points. In all you start your licence with 12 points, if you lose 12 points you loose your license. These used points expire after 3 years. However, you have to decalre the used points to the insurance company and this makes your insurance much higher.
Our system is so driven by revenue that the gov are now introducing pay zones for city areas. If you drive through certain areas you have to pay. If you drive down certain roads you have to pay. Our fuel is rediculously overtaxed. To fill my Pcar it costs me 46! Thats about $75!
Then on top of that our insurance is huge. I have six points and my Pcar costs me 1400 a year insurance. And the icing on the cake... we have to pay road tax every year. It is only going to get worse.
Oh one last thing. I personally am a patriot. That is I am against joining the EU. However, if the deal in joing the EU includes letting us drive at speed like on the Autobahn in Germany then count me in. But this two faced hypocracy we have here would never let that happen anyway :-(
Thanks for the explanation.
Here in California there are some towns that use unmanned radar / camera combinations, then mail you the ticket. The stations are mobile, and pop up around town. Fortunatly, there aren't many of them. I haven't received a ticket yet from one of these, but I understand that it will be thrown out if the license plate and driver's face aren't clear.

Over here we get K-band fixed gastso's and movile Ka-band camuflashed cars which are esay to catch with the right radar detector, but Lidar (laser) is getting popular in Spain so it will soon be time for the Lidatek Laser Diffuser too.
I see you are from the UK so check this website out, its got tons of great info on all radars, detectors, laser, gadgets, etc... you are going to love it
