Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My 99 996 C4 begins to make a pronounced rattling noise when going over bumps and also when pulling away or slowing down. It only starts doing this after it has been driven for a few miles. Any ideas?

POST 2Original post

I have exactly the same problem but with my rear suspensions, i had this reported to the service guy and he told me that they greased it, the sound went out for couple of days and then came back again.

POST 3Original post

Might sound daft, but check the bonnet catch adjustment. If it's not correctly adjusted, the lid sometimes rattles at low speeds over bumps.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Bonnet is tight. The anti roll bar bushes were lubricted at last service (before I owned the car). I suspect that these are playing up again.

POST 5Original post

is it a rattle or a clunk, I get a clunk, it turns out it is my eibach springs not centering on the perch, not a real problem, just an annoyance. If you take the wheel off and look you can see they are not centered. Jim
