This is not a probability of success.

Seems many P-car owners have had great luck w/ having the scratch filled w/ touch-up paint, scraped, then buffed w/ no evidence of damage.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Washed my C4 this afternoon and the rear wiper sprung back and scratched my car. I'm amazed that this could even happen as there is no protection to the sharp metal wiper blade end at all. Bad design. Here's the scratch :- Here's me holding the wiper blade showing it's position when it sprung back and hit the car :- What do I do about this? I'm so very careful with my car I'd be amazed if I was the only one to have suffered this problem. What will my Porsche dealer say? Will they fix it or blame me? Anyone else had the same problem?

POST 2Original post

Real sorry to see that Spie On the bright side, it looks possible to buff this scratch out by a good detail shop. Good luck.

POST 3Original post

Yeah that is a really ****ty design. I'ts happened to my car twice in the last year, once I did it and the second time a hand wash place did it. Both times the scratch was so deep that it couldnt be buffed out and I had to have the whole panel repainted. Miserable to say the least. I now have a black tie-wrap around the pivot point of the blade so that it cant spin around.

POST 5Original post

Thanks for the warning. It's off to my garage to zip-tie my rear wiper. There was a thread similar to this recently re: hood being opened w/ front wipers extended during detail, resulting in big scratch. Seems many P-car owners have had great luck w/ having the scratch filled w/ touch-up paint, scraped, then buffed w/ no evidence of damage. Best check this out w/ your or your dealer's detailer/reconditioning guy before you go painting an entire quarter panel. Good Luck, DT
