On the other hand, I have seen other people simply replace the springs with H&R springs and have been very happy with the definitely visible lower look and reportedly better performance.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

dealer told me that i can just get the euro springs for my 996 C4S if i want to lower the car a little bit .i think they mean ROW M030, they said the price is around $400 for the parts (springs). i know people talked about here also i saw on carnewal.com the actual part is around $1400 (springs & shock). why my dealer is telling me different story? is it ok to just replace the springs (i assume not)? should i let my dealer order the part for me? they don't even seem like to know that the C4S uses different system then regular C2.

POST 2Original post

Because your dealer is an idiot. The correct way to lower the car is with the springs and shocks. Most Dealers are about making money, period. Their knowledge about these cars is limited to their ability to do that... Roy

POST 3Original post

When I priced out my RoW kit from a dealer I noticed the springs were actually fairly cheap, on the order of around $100 per pair, give or take. I think your dealer is just offering the C4S RoW springs which will lower you car a slight amount (doesn't the C4S already come 10mm lower?? I'm not sure). If that's the case and the RoW C4S springs lower the car only about 10mm, then you probably don't need new shocks, as the tolerance is +/- 10mm anyway. But Roy is right, if you want to lower a 996 correctly, you will need matched shocks and springs. I'm just not sure about the C4S baseline.

POST 4Original post

The C4S already has the US sport suspension. If you want to lower the car then you will need the the RoW M030 suspension which includes both shocks and spring replacements.

POST 5Original post

Go with the Euro M030 setup that Gert sells. You will not be dissapointed. It lowers the car just enough, and tightens up the suspension without making it more harsh. I'm very happy with the results on my '03 C4S.

POST 6Original post

The pros and cons of ways of lowering the C4S have been much debated on this forum. Check out these links: lower lower2 lower3 You can find a lot more by doing a search. You will not suffer from a lack of opinion. To do it right, you have to change both springs and shocks, since they are tuned to each other. I've heard of people being disapointed with the barely visible change with the ROW 030 for the C4S. RedlineRobert is very happy with his. On the other hand, I have seen other people simply replace the springs with H&R springs and have been very happy with the definitely visible lower look and reportedly better performance. Your choice.

POST 7Original post

Here's a shot of my TT after ROW was installed. The sitting position of a stock C4s and TT are simular so the impact would be about the same. The difference is not radical, but is a nice change, expecially in the front imo... Roy
