They send you a fixed rim (like the one you have) you use it to replace your bent one, then ship them back the bent one.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Have a 02 996 Cab with 6000 miles on it. Have had two flat Cont Sport tac2 tires and two bent rims, due to nails in the tires and pot holes? for the rims. Am very careful about avoiding bad road spots in NJ (brutal winter with horrible roads since).
Considering changing to 17 " wheels before I replace the 18" rims. Will they have larger sidewalls to prevent rim damage? Will they ride smoother? Input greatly appreciated. Want to avoid the same problems if I order new 18" rims. I don't track the car nor do I drive over aggressively.
I have 17's on my car.
I cant speak for changing them from 18 to 17s but I did specifically look for a car with 17s. My opinion, not shared my most, is that the 'overall ride' is much better, the tires last longer, and there are more tire options. This car handles fantastic with or with out 18s. Also, based on your last statement, 'I don't track the car nor do I drive over aggressively,' you should be very happy with the 17s.
Good Luck
Andy,
I feel your pain, roads up here look like they've been bombed. If you go to 17s there will be a bigger sidewall, the ride should be smoother, but 18s look MUCH nicer.
Do what DJ said, call Wheel Enhancement, I think they have an exchange policy. They send you a fixed rim (like the one you have) you use it to replace your bent one, then ship them back the bent one. It think it costs less than $200...
Andy,
Another thought, there are some wheel/tire insurance policies that you can buy. I know Paul Miller in Parsippany NJ has one (friend go it for his M3 - not affilitated with manufacturer) think its like $700 for P-cars, but worth it as soon as you blow a tire or bend a rim...
