Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

2000 996 Cab, what is best route for additional wires (oil temp sensor, rear camera) to penetrate firewall and be routed up to the front console? Dash is currently out, undergoing HVAC flapper fix, so this seems an ideal time to run these extra wires.

POST 2Original post

Calling @Porschetech3 I think he has a method for doing this.

POST 3Original post

Pull the passenger side rear interior panel. There is a large gromet for the main harness bundle. Its easy to stab a hole and pass wires through. Then go under the carpet under the rear seat (there is a factory wire chanel) tgen under the cemter consol.

POST 4Original post

You have large bundles of wiring going through the firewall on both sides of the engine compartment... On the Passenger side you have mostly the engine wiring harness and on the drivers side you have mostly the rear body electrics... Like DeJeeper said, you can stab a hole in the big grommett and pass a wire or two next to the existing bundle...

POST 5Original post

I don't have access to my pictures, but I think there is a real easy place just outboard of the battery and below it on the driver's side (left) of the car. I put wires through there when I did my stereo upgrade, almost nothing in the hole as I recall. Was super easy.I could post pictures tomorrow if you need them, I could always be wrong.

POST 6Original post

I followed CAI Store's instructions for routing wires when I installed their amp in my frunk https://cai-store.com/pages/996-c4-a...r-installation

POST 7Original post

Coop doc’s oil temp sensor wire connects to the ECU in the rear of the passenger compartment so it does not need to go thru the rear firewall. The rear camera is best Ruben thru the large grommet on the drivers side where the rear body wiring penetrates the firewall. Good luck with it and let me know if I can help you. mark
