Wondered if it was something to do with the dunlops, as most people use contis, bridgestones or pirellis on their p-cars

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I bought my cab used with 18" Dunlop SP Sports on it (typical 225/265 F/R). They have more than 60% of the tread still on them, but whenever I take a tight curve (exit ramp, etc) at speed they squeal. These were supposedly OE tires, is this normal? Should I be looking to get pirellis or contis instead?

POST 2Original post

I had Pirellis and Contis and both squealed at speed at driver ed events on the track. Street tires do that. You need to be going pretty good to get them to squeal. Regards, Mike

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm not talking lateral acceleration tests, I'm mean a little faster than normal speed. I've taken the same roads in other cars at similar speeds with no squeal. Wondered if it was something to do with the dunlops, as most people use contis, bridgestones or pirellis on their p-cars

POST 4Original post

I have Pirellis you cannot hear any squeal, nomatter how fast you take on ramps.

POST 5Original post

Check your tire pressure too, but you probably already have. Some tires squeal or howl as they load, some do not even when they completely break adhesion. Wouldn't worry about it unless it feels wrong too, just one of the compromises the engineers made.

POST 7Original post

Hi, check also the side wall of the wheel , maybe is bend..

POST 8Original post

I wou;d get them checked out by a dealer. It does not sound normal

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The tire pressure is fine, the wheels are straight, the tires are wearing evenly. I thought perhaps it was just the way the Dunlops are, anybody else running these tires?
