Anyone here just change their front pads when doing DE's??

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm going to put Pagid S Type (AKA dark blues or RS4-2-1) pads on the front of my '02 C2 before my next DE. My mechanic recommended that I put the same compound on my rears as well--he said I might get too much bite up front and cause more lift in the back end as I brake. I kind of doubt that there is enough of a difference in the Pagid S Type (front) and the ATE Textar (rears) for it to be noticeable. Anyone here just change their front pads when doing DE's?? Any comments on how it affected (or didn't affect) the braking/balance of the car??

POST 2Original post

The difference in friction rate might just throw the ABS off. The front to rear brake bias is proportioned by the ABS system software so I don't think I would risk different pads front and rear.(IMHO of course)

POST 3Original post

I faced the same thing. It would throw things off if you mix and match. I opted to do f and r exactly because of my fear of the brake bias change.

POST 4Original post

A bit off topic, but I hate to pay more money for something with a 'brand' name when the same thing is sold under another name. Like the brake fluid boiling points, just to find out the cheap Ford heavy duy brake fluid is better than the 'racing' fluid. Here is some info on brake pad friction material. If there are standards for the friction material and there are ratings are on the back of the pads it should be easy to compare apples to apples. This is the only article I have found. I would like to see more. I am thinking of buying some cheap no name brand front pads for my Boxster that have FE on the back. Would be funny if they are 'better' than the pads sold by Porsche or other companies. Jeff Friction info

POST 5Original post

well dunno about other's but my impressions from the stock textar to the pagid blues are impressive and striking. Initial bite is great at any temp and stopping is vastly improved with a linear pedal. I also use at super blue fluid. The only drawback is a loud *** sqeal about once a drive reeeeaaaaaarrrrrrr people trip out and it's kinda embarassing but it can be avoided by stopping with more pedal effort.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
