Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

30K service results in CE light next day. MAF sensor replaced. Tech is sharp, so I figure I'm good to go. Day two, light comes back on after about 10 miles. PST2 shows voltage problem. Disconnect battery, reset faults, done. Day three, drive to office, no light. Drive to lunch meeting, no light. Leave meeting head back to office, light on again! PST2 shows O2 sensors reading out of range. Tech takes a complete DME readout and matches to spec. Shows that one of the sensors is reading 0.36 when normal should be NEGATIVE 0.29! Wonder where this is going now. They are working on it now. Suggesting cleaning the O2 sensors. Any suggestions for anyone in same boat? '99 996 Cab. Eric Chief Plug Guy BumperPlugs.com

POST 2Original post

Eric, If the car is running rich, have them check for vaccum leaks either in the the breather hoses or the oil separator. The DME will sense the vaccum leak in the intake and try to richen the mixture to compensate. That can then cause the O2 sensors to read on the rich side. Karl
