Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 99 C2 and purchased a Valentine 1 for it about a year ago. Everything was just great until recently when I've noticed that the power cord keeps falling out of the cigarette lighter! Granted, I have M030 and Ohio has crapola roads, but it seems that it won't stay in anymore. Has the sword outworn the sheath here? Just wondering if I need a new lighter receptacle or if there's an easier fix. Thanks!

POST 2Original post

Hard wire it, what's wrong with you? It's super easy given that the phone power is right for you to use.

POST 3Original post

Your V1 probably came with a ring adapter (forgot if mine did) to make it fit more snugly. Frankly, SPR hit it on the nose: hardwire the thing. You'll be happier in the long run. -Paul

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've got 3 Cars that I rotate in and out of, so I never really thought of hardwiring as the ultimate answer. It is an option though.

POST 5Original post

You can still detach the V1 very easily even when hardwired. Just disconnect the powercord at the V1 end. It's what I do if I park in a public garage.

POST 6Original post

ever notice your V1 laser go off when behind a late model GMC truck (Trailblazer, Envoy, etc) and they brake? happens to me all the time. The must have something in their brake lights that goes on a frequency similar to laser.

POST 7Original post

In most cases you can bend the metal piece on the side of the plug out to put more pressure on the socket.

POST 8Original post

Scott, I agree with everyone else, HARDWIRE IT! If you are moving it btwn 3 cars, hard wire of em, then just move the unit itself, not the wires. As far as the plug slipping out of the cig lighter, the light socket is VERY shallow. I remember there was a thread on here somewhere about replacing the socket with a deeper one. Not sure if it was porsche or local autopart store replacement part...
