This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

After following these instructions, http://forums.rennlist.com/cgi-bin/rennforums/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=5;t=002485#000000 I discovered that by removing the 4 position jumper you also disable the doors automatically locking when you drive over 5 mph. I personally like that option but if I had to choose between the two I would rather have control over the exhaust.

POST 2Original post

we dont have that option here in the US....or at least the 2 996s that I've owned never had the automatic door lock at 5mph...

POST 3Original post

The auto door lock must be enabled w/the PST2.

POST 4Original post

You just have to ask to have this enabled, should be free.

POST 5Original post

Could someone knowledgable elaborate more on this automatic door locking option? My dealership service tech said that it requires some "codes" to be entered into the computer. This work would take about an hour and be charged for accordingly. Currently, the only way my doors lock is when I push the switch to the right of the radio and then if its at night I have the little red indicator light shining in my face. Anybody? Mark 2000 C2 As/blk

POST 6Original post

my doors lock automatically, I'm the second owner and it came like that.

It literally takes a minute, plus connecting and unconnecting the PlayStation. Most dealerships I know would do it FOC. Cheers Uwe

POST 8Original post

Read your owners manuals - it lists the 3 or 4 door locking options as well as the several key fob front trunk unlock/relock options that the car can be programmed to by the service dept.

POST 9Original post

Mark Jay, needing a new dealer if at all possible. If you are there for as little as an oil change or any warranty stuff, they should do this as a courtesy. As much work as checking the tire pressure fer chrissakes. You will still have that red light--all the time. Don't know if the function of the light could be reversed, it would make much better sense.
