Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 1 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

After several weeks I finally was able to go for a ride! Looking for info on anything I should be looking at, or have looked after that would be a common issue on a Millennium Edition! Any help or info is much appreciated.

same as other variants, you'll find more specifics here https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...stry-info.html

POST 3Original post

Congrats on first 911! Any 911 is addictive, fantastic and a blast to drive. However, buying a $70-$80k + (when new) is not the same as buying a used Toyota or something similar in $cost. Whatever is worn-out, wrong, or neglected is going to cost an owner a wheelbarrow full of $$$. If you can do "TASKS-REPAIRS" yourself, source some parts as "used parts", and so on, the cost could be less. Silly items like "Only1 KEY" are pretty much $$$, up to around $800 +/-. Ridiculous. JMO. You step into an entire new world of how to wash it, clean it, ceramic this or that, and a jillion other things. I did not turn OFF the A/C (temps 110F-123F) on a 1200mi. drive to get C4S home, because I could not figure out how to turn it ON again. Simple stuff, hidden in buttons and German thinking. Still, after all is said and done, fix this ($1400) or that ($350), align ($200). new tires- used "new-to-me" wheels ~$1300, various tools and QuickJack ~$2000, it is worth it. Nobody compliments/ask questions at gas stop/shopping about a Toyota or Subaru XRx(?), but they ask about a C4S. It is part of the P-magic. Nearly any P-car is like a go-cart on 1000 steroids and top speed seems unlimited - Hah, try NV desert roads US50-etc, or hereabouts in Rocky Mountain locals. Straight line speed is cool, but a lot of new less-rated cars these days are faster. Your 911 is 20+ years old and still blows the doors off of most cars of today. A Toyota or Subaru or Electric-BS is faster? Electric "may" be OK for coastal crowds, but is totally worthless out in the west with big distances. Fast is fast for seat of pants, something to hear! So what if a new Nissan is .2 seconds faster to 0-60? You will own the corners and be able to apply the go-pedal. Freaks them out every time when you make the corner faster and inside of them, my kind of humor. Have fun with your new 911, learn it, I mean really LEARN IT . and have a good time. ANY Porsche is a fantastic machine. YMMV

First thing I would get is a battery tender. First thing I would learn is how to open the frunk with a dead battery.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Exactly first thing I did and I needed it when I got back to drive it :-) Had to connect it to something at the engine for the + of the battery and the - on the lock ---- and then the frunk will open from the inside That is a great tip indeed :-D

POST 8Original post

Another one for battery tender. Congrats on the car, make sure to enjoy it!

haha, absolutely second this. Just dealt with it over the weekend. Pull the front bumper off, give it a clean in there and reroute the hood latch cable

I did this a little different, ... Didn't know you could use a hood latch cable! Unlock the driver door with the key (mechanical). Open the trunk where the engine is and see picture: Connect a jump pack/charger positive (+)-(number 1) to that black post (it opens to a metal thing). Clamp negative ()-(number 2) to a solid ground (lock hinge). Use a low‑amp supply (youre not starting the car, just waking the electronics). Wait ~1030 seconds for interior lights/chimes to wake and unlock with key button. Press the front trunk release switch by the drivers seat Hood pops. Open it, connect your charger/jump leads directly to the battery.
