Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello and good day!! Has anyone here on the board run with stock exhaust(PSE or stock) and header but without cats? How does it sound like? Is it way too loud? Regards. Mike

POST 2Original post

Mike, I was about to remove the cats on my 996 when i started the discussion and found out it'd be non-adviseable to remove them, unless you put others that can take care of the electronics involved in pre and post oxygen sensors.. some racing cats i learnt that 'cheat' on the electronic system of the car.. It will surely sound louder and you should get more power.. BUt you'll surely get the CEL sooner than you think! Waz

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Only reason Waz for getting rid of the cats is they create so much heat build up and on the track on a hot day isn't great for any engine. I know midrange/top end will show gains in hp/trq which is great on the track but sound if too loud would be a damper since I do jolly around the city in my car. Regards and thanks. Mike

POST 4Original post

I was told that if you flash your comp. to the row then it gets rid of that problem as it only uses 2 of the 4 sensors or something like that, and no cel.

POST 5Original post

DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR ON THE STREET WITHOUT A CAT. Besides being illegal, it will ruin your paint on the back of the bumper regardless of color. The unburned gas will always leave a film above your bumpers and when you buff this stuff off after a long period of time it will eat away your bumper's clear coat. I had this on my BMW before, and I will never go through it again. Also, if you have a chip that is rich on the fuel, it will pop flames when you pop the gas abruptly at high RPMS.

POST 6Original post

That's interesting I have seen it done on quite a few 993tt's with no problems.

POST 7Original post

This is in the long term...i.e. If you ever spilled gas on your fender and let it dry, you will know what I mean. 65k miles in 2 years owing the car is what it took me to find out. I used so much rubbing compound each time I washed the car to take it off, the paint was like primer with no shine. I'm sure you won't notice effects just for a weekend driver, but if you plan to keep the car be ready to paint the bumper after this stuff accumulates. Its so bad, a brillow pad barely scrapes it off. Sean, why suddenly your car is bunch of junk? and how was your trip to sf?

POST 9Original post

heeh you like that? well I just felt kinda lame listing all the things plus I added more and the list would be too long! I am actually going to leave out to SF sometime either this week and or weekend and then stay out for the week and weekend! hit me up if you want while I am out there. I will have my laptop and my cell hooks up so I have 118k to it!

POST 10Original post

are you using sprint vision? I was told they go up to 144k for $80 a month. I dunno if its good though as I got lazy carrying around my laptop its too damn heavy.

POST 11Original post

yeah I have sprint and the internet is unlimited and free on my plan 2000 min. for 90 bucks! yeah you can use the phone for any site also but it's cumbersome to enter the url in a bit.
