Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have heard that the oil should be checked while the engine is hot, and my brother in law was told that the engine should be running when the oil is checked...aarggh (someone in Houston??). However most posts here say to check first thing in the morning (which is what I do) in my (level !) garage. With the car cold, the electronic doo-dad matches the dipstick measurement. Can someone please confirm that I am doing it right?? <img border="0" alt="[cherrsagai]" title="" src="graemlins/drink.gif" />

POST 4Original post

I have been told by the Chief Mechanic for Brumos Racing that the digital read out on the instrument panel (on level ground, of course) at start up is so accurate, that the GT2 doesn't even have a dipstick and there is no way to install one.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for all your helpful info

POST 6Original post

Hey, never check the dipstick it is never as accurate as the computer. I have been told this countless times by mechanics as well as enthusiasts. Also you should only check it while hot. The best way is to find a spot that is perfectly level. Stick the car up on it while nice and warm at full temp, not just water temp.- and then turn the car off then turn it all the way just before you hit the starter you will see the timer in the right start. When it's done the lever indicator will tell you the actual level. I forget how many bars equals, but I think it says in the manual? Best ways anywayz.
