I'm running S-04s after I needed a set of tires for an event last fall and Michelins were out of stock nationally.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The Bmw m-club guys swear by them - they're on sale at tire rack for a set of four of around $830 - too good to pass up- will let you all know what they're like.
Local tire shop matched online pricing and gave me a break on mounting and alignment
More to come
No brainer indeed at that price.
I've had my fair share of high performance tires including the previous generation of S-02 and S-03. Although I haven't owned a set of S-04's yet, I plan to when my current tires wear down after driving a couple friend's cars that had them on.
Great price. I have a set on now as the retailer couldn't get Michelin's last year. They have provided more than enough grip for what I need; getting a little noisy as they are at the wear bar now (rears) but that is only a nit-picky comment. Overall I like them and would purchase another set without hesitation.
This is a common complaint/attribute amongst a few different Bridgestone tire models. Some are worse than others and can happen anywhere from 50% worn onwards. Glad to see you haven't noticed it until closer to the wear bars.
I have a set and am happy with them too. They made some noise when they were new, to a point I thought my wheel bearings are failing. Once worn a bit, they are pretty quiet though....maybe before they become sigificantly worn.
I'm glad to hear that they stay quiet until they are basically shot, loud tires are annoying. I drive in the rain enough that I don't typically stick with tires until they get that worn, so I'll probably be very happy with these.

I really liked tracking them at VIR and the ride on public roads is decent. Great grip and rain performance. It's nice they're $300+ cheaper than the Michelins too. I didn't regret getting them at all.
Spinout, thanks for the on-track performance impressions of the S04's. I haven't come across too many 996 owners that have used them on the track yet. I guess that's even a better bonus.
I, too, am running SO4s and would buy them again. Two DEs and a daily driver; they have performed well. I can't say that they are noticeably better than the S02s (previous tire). As most have said, good tires and a great price - hard to beat.
Update - they flat spot very easily and need 8 miles to work itself out and get smooth again
On road crowns they get very floaty
Now I am comparing them against my old michelins that cost $650 more per set
I guess you do get what you pay for - for the price they're not bad but if price is no object I would stay with michelins which is probably what I will do come replacement time

My car has S04s on it, and I really like them. They're pretty quiet, grip is awesome for aggressive street driving (no track time on them), and they are surprising good in the rain/cold.
Is it safe to assume that your old Michelins were "n" spec whereas the SO4's are not? That might be the difference that you are noticing. I ran non "n" spec winter tires and the difference between those and my "n" spec winters is notable.
I am about to pull the trigger on a set of 4 tires for the C4S and a pair for the rear of the C2. The price of the SO4's mentioned in this thread had me smiling for a few minutes until I found that they are not "n" spec. Guess I'll stick with the SO2A's as this is what I have been running on the C2 and I am very pleased, would be more pleased if they cost less though.
You must have pretty flat roads. I definitely cannot stand 36/44 even on stock suspension (way too bumpy and didn't inspire confidence when pushed hard). I found 35/40 to be the optimal for both stock and x74. If they are higher, the car will be more floaty, relatively speaking. If they are lower, you can feel the car is more sluggish and feels like losing some hp.
These are cold temps btw.
Never understood the stock 44PSI other than giving the wheel more protection against being bent by the pathholes. The wheels do bent easily so be careful.
I don't think lot of people understand that this is for a "full" load.
Fwiw, this is one of the few cars where even 1-2 psi can make a world of difference depending on driving style and the kind of tires being used. Even more so in this car I would say is more important to play with your tire pressures for your style. There is no one size fits all.
Running GT3 suspension, v12 tires(225/285) at 34/38. I have more Button driving style than Hamilton.
Definitely more for "full" load than a single driver, where I think 99% of the case here most of the time. At least they should have stated it clearly in the owner's manual that there should be two sets of PSI's, one for single driver and one for fully loaded, similar on most Japanese cars.
there's a general ballpark figure for tire pressure but if you want to be precise, every car is different depending on its application, tires and suspension settings. So yea...test and run whatever works for you. Personally 33f 35r works for me.
