Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

That said, you'll find many who have installed PCCM+ clone for significantly less $ and they're happy with how they look and operate.

I installed a Pioneer double-din head unit with wired CarPlay connected to the original Bose amp and speakers/subwoofer.

I had run the USB input block to sit above the footwell vent on the passenger side, and stuck the adapter to the top of it after I had it connected.

Suggestion
Sounds ok but regularly loses CarPlay and also seems to have interfered with the stock on board computer - time and date is set via PCCM but none of the OBC functions will work with the PCCM and the display defaults to outside temp.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My CDR23 is toast. Looking to upgrade to a double-din system. The car is a 2003 coupe with a Hi-Fi system, meaning I have MOST and door woofers. I am torn between PCCM+ vs a five-channel amp and headunit from CAI. The CAI route is the more expensive path, but at least Apple CarPlay would be wireless, whereas the Porsche PCCM+ requires you to connect the phone via USB each time. A CAI system would be about twice the cost of the Porsche unit. Suggestions appreciated.
I have PCCM+ and wireless CarPlay, thanks to a USB adapter. Works fairly well.
I felt the audio quality improved significantly when I dumped the CDR-23 for the PCCM+. I realize the AliExpress units are similar enough, though (to me) the PCCM just looks a bit better.
That would’ve been helpful, wouldn’t it.

I had run the USB input block to sit above the footwell vent on the passenger side, and stuck the adapter to the top of it after I had it connected. You go through a brief setup, and from then on CarPlay shows up on-screen when your phone is near and the radio on.
I have PCCM+ from the prior owner of my car. Sounds ok but regularly loses CarPlay and also seems to have interfered with the stock on board computer - time and date is set via PCCM but none of the OBC functions will work with the PCCM and the display defaults to outside temp. Weird and no one seems to know why or how to resolve it. I am actively considering complete removal and replacement with an independent unit
I installed a Pioneer double-din head unit with wired CarPlay connected to the original Bose amp and speakers/subwoofer. It sounds great and can get loud without distortion. But the wired CarPlay is inconvenient to plug-in every time, then I need an iPhone mount close by which is also not a great solution. Should have spent the extra $2-300 more for the wireless CarPlay. /X3
This is tough one as it comes down to the the proverbial "it depends" answer. I installed PCCM+ because I wanted OEM look, perceived value if I ever sold the car (not likely!) and I could live with the relatively high price tag and lack of two features (wireless CarPlay and no backup camera) available in lower cost third party solutions. I solved the wireless CarPlay feature by adding a wireless dongle (quick connection and zero dropouts) along with a Magsafe charger integrated into a OEM looking cubby (for reference added pic showing Autobahn A1 cubby w/MagSafe

That said, you'll find many who have installed PCCM+ clone for significantly less $ and they're happy with how they look and operate. Others go the Alpine, Kenwood, Sony route for more audio centric reasons. Again, it depends on what you value the most. No real right or wrong answer. Good luck!
