Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Hacked our own mufflers this weekend, wanted mild, not hot, so we did the rev one mod using 2" tube.
Leading evidence: 'Use 2" tube' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use 2" tube' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have the gemballa cans hacked fister style and they are still not loud enough for my taste.
Hacked our own mufflers this weekend, wanted mild, not hot, so we did the rev one mod using 2" tube. Install took all of 2 hours once the welding was done (I did cheat by hacking a spare set of mufflers before taking ours off
)
Couldn't be happier with the results.
I imagine he means directly connecting the two existing pipes instead of opening and connecting the spare knockout on the muffler.

If by "better" you mean louder/more aggressive, the direction connection of the two pipes is the better of the two. It seems to be the most popular by far.
Hey John,
I'm also a Carolina Region PCA member. Come on down to our monthly meeting at Quaker Steak & Lube in Greenville, SC on April 7 starting at 6:30 pm. I did the fister mod. It'll be a good chance to see the difference between the two. I'll buy the beer.
John
What were the too loud mufflers you used? I have the gemballa cans hacked fister style and they are still not loud enough for my taste. Looking for something more aggressive.
My too loud was a B&B 3" out muffler on my 84 Carrera, had a terrible drone at 2500-3000, ears rang after driving.
A good friend has muffler bypass pipes on his racecar, sound awesome.
The photo posted earlier is mine. I listened to both styles and as stated above, most people highly prefer that way. It is not to loud by any means. No droning and you really only hear it when you romp on it, otherwise, you cant even tell its been done.
When I was switching out the mufflers I took it out for a drive with the mufflers off to get a feel of what it sounds like with the bypass, and it was just waaaaaaay too loud at WOT and it was droning pretty bad. Then I added the fabspeed cat bypass pipes to the gemballa cans and that sounded AWSOME but I got pulled over few months ago and got away with a warning for not having on cats so I took those off.
Alp I have never heard the Supercups. Who makes it?
Those look pretty sweet. They look like two motorcycle mufflers welded together. I had a full Yoshimura system on my gsxr back in the days and it sounded awesome and I always wondered how it would sound if somehow I could retrofit those on a car.
not to hijack, but what is the consensus these days on the best way to hack the exhaust? Strait pipe up tight to the muffler or something else further back? Also, what dia?
