So after watching some 'Wheeler Dealers' I got the big to get out in the garage and under my C2. I figured I would start spraying Down the clamps with PB Blaster so I can get them off easily and get the Fister D done locally. While taking a peek underneath, I saw that I had two broken header bolts. Both were snapped off in the heads. No exhaust leaks yet. Is this a common issue? Hopefully something that most Indy shops can handle/ helicoil? By the way, I broke one of the exhaust clamp bolts as well. It's been a while since I've run into issues like this. My last couple cars were near new. However, they don't compare to the feel of the 996. Thanks for your replies. Ken

Header bolts will break. I took my headers off the car and had no problems. I have a donor engine I am slowly building and almost every one of the bolts broke. Since my spare engine is on a stand, they can be drilled a tapped without too much effort. They make a kit to drill and tap them without removing the engine. Look up Stomski Exhaust Bolt Repair Repair Kit.

The exhaust manifold bolts are a PIA to fix once broken. To do it right you want to use TIME-SERT's not Heli-Coil's.. However, you have to make sure that the old bolts are drilled out center and not to far to break into the water jackets..
