This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Gents, I have been reading the Bentley, searching the interwebz...I'm still confused. My passenger headlamp assembly is yellowing as compared to the driver side. (I'll assume the driver side has been replaced by a P.O.) It's noticeable. I tried the 2000->3000 grit wet sanding technique to no avail. How can I tell if this is a Litronic unit? When I turn the lights on, I can see them "move to focus"...but I don't know which type of light that makes them. Sorry to ask, but if I order a new light, I want to get the correct one. Thanks guys

POST 2Original post

Litronics have a bulb you can see at the back. The regular headlights have a GMAT plastic back and the bulb behind it.

POST 5Original post

You need to start with 800 grit dry. Move to 1000 dry then 2-3 wet for the final sanding. Buff out afterward. You are not being aggressive enough. These plastics are tough.

Evidently not. I was afraid I'd cork it up. But at $1k + for litronics, I'll go Wild Kingdom on that bitch tomorrow. Thanks guys

POST 7Original post

What are you planning to use to seal the lenses with after polishing?

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Blue Magic 730-6...unless there is something better

POST 9Original post

I have never used that one but it has a good price point. The one I recommend and use on all of my headlight restorations is Opti Lens from Optimum Polymer Technologies.

POST 10Original post

When I got my car the headlights were yellowed and I made them shine like new. Then I got in an accident and got a new headlight. It was way clearer than the old one. I think the entire plastic yellows to some extent and you may never get them to match.
