Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Also, my sticky brake pedal issue from another thread I started turned out to be a worn bushing in the pedal assembly.
Leading evidence: 'worn bushing in the pedal assembly' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'worn bushing in the pedal assembly' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace /work' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

It's most likely the wheel bearing, now back to your avatar.........

Suggestion
I'd say a wheel/tire is bad if the behavior came on suddenly and with no wheel/tire changes/work.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Ok, here goes. My car is all of a sudden making, for lack of a better term, a thumping sound as I drive. It's a constant drone, thump thump thump sound at any speed. The sound seems to be more focused in the front passenger side.
It sounds like a flat spotted or out of round tire. I don't know if that is actually the cause or not. I pulled both front wheels off today and nothing obvious seems amiss. Suspension seems tight and I don't hear a bearing type of noise if I spin the hubs.
I did swap front wheels but the sound still seemed to be passenger front still.
There is absolutely no difference in handling. My biggest fear is a suspension or bearing issue but I don't know what those symptoms are.
Has anyone had a failed bearing that can chime in with what it sounded like?
Could be a damaged wheel. Anybody close down there in Florida that you can swap out wheels with? That would be the quickest and cheapest way to eliminate that as a possibility. Its not that hard to damage a wheel.
I was thinking the wheel also. I have not hit any potholes that I recall. I may have the fronts rebalanced to see. I could have tossed a weight along the way. My wheels are stock BBS so my wallet hopes one is not bent.
Only fully broken bearings will make noise without some load. Wheel bearings that are in the process of going out usually need some load to be able to hear the noise.
Try doing a slalom type driving on an empty stretch of road swerving back and forth. If it's only one side, the sound will be more pronounced when there is more load swerving in one direction.
Now that we got that out of the way, we need boobies.
Wheel bearing on my Boxster went bad but all it did was make some hard to locate noise. Granted I didn't push my luck and continue driving the car to see what other symptoms would be produced as the bearing's state advanced towards complete/total failure.
I'd say a wheel/tire is bad if the behavior came on suddenly and with no wheel/tire changes/work. A wheel lost a weight or is bent (from a crack or a collapse) or a tire developed a broken belt or even a blister.
That you swapped wheels/tires side to side and the noise appeared to stay in the same place could suggest a wheel bearing but if so it is failing in a way that I'm not familiar with.
I'd think the wheel/tire assembly would have some extraordinary play if the bearing was the cause of the noise.
Regardless, I'd avoid driving the car and get it to a shop and have the cause of the behavior identified. A bad tire or wheel is bad enough but a bearing going bad and being the cause of what you are experiencing could result in serious collateral damage should the bearing come apart.
Update: Since I hate threads that never have an ending, the thumping sound was indeed the left front wheel bearing. Good call gents.
Also, my sticky brake pedal issue from another thread I started turned out to be a worn bushing in the pedal assembly. Yeah, the techs had never seen it before either.
Ahh the distraction...glad you got it sorted in short order. However, I'm now wishing that something else goes wrong with your car so you keep posting with that avatar!
