Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that suspect a cause
1
0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suspected cause
My bumper had been repainted which is likely a huge contributing factor and it hopefully wouldn't have happened with the original clearcoat, but it will likely turn out to be an expensive lesson.
Leading evidence: 'huge contributing factor and it hopefully wouldn't have happened' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'huge contributing factor and it hopefully wouldn't have happened' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Recommend removing them' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

^ ditto. Depending on how "crunchy" the bolts are, it shouldn't take too long. I did mine without removing the bumper cover, with just basic tools. I hope you are sending them to Darin for the Fister D mod. It is absolutely worth it! GL
I just took my bumper off. Actually, it's sitting in my basement. Bumper removal is very easy - there's a YouTube video on it. Bolts to the muffler bracket are tough to get to, but it's no biggie. Bottom bolt on bracket is hardest one. I'm doing plugs, tubes and coils while I'm in there.
I'd recommend removing them with the bumper on. I removed my bumper this winter in order to do some work on my car (exhaust, water pump, ignition coils etc.) and ended up accidentally causing some spider web cracks in the clearcoat of the bumper presumably by flexing it. My bumper had been repainted which is likely a huge contributing factor and it hopefully wouldn't have happened with the original clearcoat, but it will likely turn out to be an expensive lesson. If you remove it take your time and make sure you have a helper or two when reinstalling.
Thanks. I did remove them with the bumper on, very easy job once the wheels are off. Not sure why Pelicans tech article says remove the bumper. Anyway, they were removed and reinstalled after having this done.

Just follow steps 8 and 9 with the rear wheels removed. The rest of removing the bumper and stuff are totally unnecessary. Don't know why they chose to do it the hard way.
