You might be better off replacing the Bose subwoofer with an aftermarket sub in 4 ohms.

A search of the 20 plus threads implies that people are just using basic 2/4 ohm amps and leaving the sub on.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm confused. I am replacing Bose head unit and amp and 4 main speakers on my 2004 cab.
I called Bose and they said the passenger woofer is .5 ohm which I confirmed with a meter.
I bought an alpine head unit but need an amp. 5 channel (booking rear fill speakers to head unit). Well I can't find an amp that goes to that impedance. A search of the 20 plus threads implies that people are just using basic 2/4 ohm amps and leaving the sub on.
How? Does it work and leaving the doors alone as well.
Totally perplexed....
You might be better off replacing the Bose subwoofer with an aftermarket sub in 4 ohms. I think the Cab Bose system has only one subwoofer. My coupe Bose subwoofer box has two speakers. I wired them in series to increase the ohms for my Alpine 5-channel amp.
thanks, but unfortunately....the cab only has only one sub in the passanger bay at .5 ohm. its a 4X6 sub only (no tweeter or midrange). Bose makes no replacement and every 4x6 or 4x7 that i found is not a sub, just a tweetered component. The coupe is different. i may just have to not use it and wire a new sub to behind the seats.... I cant believe no one else has been through this already. my guess is people just left it and added and amp and didn't worry about it.
Do a search on JBL 328 and you'll find some useful information. Very positive comments about sound impediments just by switching F/R and a sub speaker. Really affordable too. I'm going to be switching to the JBL's, but keeping my stock HU and amp. I have a 4S can with Bose too.
I am driving the stock subwoofer in my Cab 04 (Bose, replaced HU and speakers) with Polk PA d5000.5. No problems whatsoever, except the subwoofers inherent shortcoming (boomy, weak). Good EQ on my Pioneer DEH-80PRS helped a lot and tamed the subwoofer. The Polk amp is going to be discontinued but is the same as the PPI P900.5 or Soundstream TN5.950D or NVX 900.5 or Hertz HDP 5 etc. The PPI seams to be the most popular, but is a tad too large, Polk fits perfect.
