Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Interesting article on the Cayenne and the 'future' of Porsche in Wednesday's USAToday (4/30). If you thought the 911 was the future, read on ... Here is a link to the abbrevated online version. http://www.usatoday.com/usatonline/20030430/5115140s.htm

POST 2Original post

Good reading, thanks SkyMast So Porsche best seller is a VW-Porsche hybrid SUV now... times change, very sad

POST 3Original post

As Schwab says, ''No one on Earth needs a Porsche sports car.'' This is not true I hope the Cayenne does well because the revenue it generates will mean better sports cars too. I also like knowing that if my family grows someday, there is still a Porsche for us!

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

What I thought was amazing - the cost of the launch, including the 'required' total dealer makeover. I am in Orlando and was just in NW ATL -- two beautiful looking new/ remodeled dealerships...all just to sell a few SUVs and save the company. Who would have thought you could sell $70K ++ sports cars w/o such a makeover!

POST 5Original post

I don't think success in the SUV market helps the sports car line. Probably just the opposite. Who would you cater to, a small mod-minded racing group or family minded drivers. From a warantee standpoint the SUV is a better bet. SUV buyers are less likely to have quality of manufacture complaints than the "show and shine" crowd of sports car enthusiasts. The success of the Cayanne could mark the beginning of the end for the 911 evolution.

POST 6Original post

This dynamic with the Cayenne is certainly interesting. Yesterday, I helped my 61 year old Dad procure a Cayenne (Dark Sea Blue/Stone Grey). So, the good news is that my 60+ year old Dad bought a Porsche. The bad news is that my 60+ year old Dad bought a Porsche. This is the market Porsche is after. My Dad is a die-hard big sedan kind of person and has owned Jags, Benz, and BMW. He really doesn't want to squeeze into a 911 at his age (bad back, bum knee, etc.) and wants room for 2 sets of golf clubs. Basically, he is not buying Porsche unless they have this type of vehicle. I have mixed feelings about this, I guess. Our fraternity is changing. . .

POST 7Original post

I'm all for whatever it takes to keep the company afloat and independent. As long as they keep producing the 911.

POST 8Original post

I fell the same i think anything they do to help the bottom line will be good for 911 owners. Tracing the history of the 911 i think we have alot more to look forward to. Just my 2 cents
