The Pirellis have worked out well (and are wearing surprisingly well), but I may look for something a bit more quiet when the time comes to replace tires.

With the linear drivetrain and toss-able nature, taken together with the full leather interior, solid construction, and assorted goodies, the car combines the best of the "boy racer," rev-happy set (think Italian) with the panache of a Mercedes SL or CL.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

32 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thrilled so far ... MY 2000,C2, equipped just as I would have wanted it. I have put on roughly 2000 miles in just over two weeks (53,300 on the clock now). Looking to put on many more before winter moves in. Did the LN bearing (double race original looked good), clutch, oil filter adapter, and a few other items. The view from the driver's seat -- gauges, slope and curve of the hood -- coupled with the performance, make for the perfect sports car.

POST 2Original post

Very nice. Artic silver with sport classic II wheels is my favorite combo. I didn't know '00 had the double race. Great ride

POST 3Original post

Welcome, nice ride, continue to drive and enjoy!

POST 6Original post

exactly like mine. Artic silver Color, classic two sports 18 inch wheels, and original pumpkins. Great car.

It is, indeed! Thanks.

POST 8Original post

looks good... any mods in the future? Im sure these guys can tell you a few.

POST 9Original post

Nice cab and nice wheels, but you might consider getting rid of those orange side markers

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 10859443

Thanks -- I don't mind the markers, yet. Getting better speakers put in later this week. Squeaky clutch is the only peeve, and even that is not overly annoying. (sounds like a helper spring issue).

Beautiful car -- jealous that you can drive it all year out there. I have long wanted this type of traditional BBS wheel (dating back to a 1984 BMW 5-series), but never had the right car at just the right time. They are my favorite Porsche wheel for any color, and with the Arctic Silver, in particular, they stand out and seem to lengthen the profile somewhat. Top down, from the side (and from the near-profile angle in the photo I posted), the car looks almost as Italian as it does German. Sets off the black of your car incredibly, as well.

POST 18Original post

Congratulations and welcome to rennlist. Glad to see your really enjoying it so far. If you decide to get rid of the pumpkins and go to the dark side Click Here for more information. Enjoy, and keep us updated.

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, it has been six weeks and a shade over 5,200 miles. Guess it's a keeper. Hope you are all enjoying your cars as much as we are -- shame that winter is almost at hand.

I have had my 99 (same combination as your car exactly) for just over 2 years and 7 months. Got it with 45000 on the clock. Now just done 68000 today. Do all my own Preventative Maintenance. Same double race bearing in mine. No records came with it so that fact turned me into a DIY guy. It will tear the **** off anything on the road hahaha. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine. Did a winter matching hard top come with yours? I drive all year.

Great stuff -- these cars truly are amazing. Performance has exceeded my expectations and the engineering is most impressive. With the linear drivetrain and toss-able nature, taken together with the full leather interior, solid construction, and assorted goodies, the car combines the best of the "boy racer," rev-happy set (think Italian) with the panache of a Mercedes SL or CL. It drives like a new car, and the convertible feature makes it a real blast in the nice weather. I had a local audio firm upgrade the speakers, which helped a great deal from the sonic perspective. The car came with the non-Bose HiFi system, so there were plenty of spots to put in better speakers. Not much of a DIY'er these days, unfortunately, but we have a great local shop here and began the preventative maintenance approach before we even got title to the car. By way of foul weather, we do not have a hardtop, though I plan to store it for only as long as necessary this winter. Not sure how immune these cars are to road salts, sand, and the like (we are in New England)? Way too much gravel on the roads these days, so I wince more than I used to already. The Pirellis have worked out well (and are wearing surprisingly well), but I may look for something a bit more quiet when the time comes to replace tires.

Great looking car. Welcome! Now get ready because we're going to help you spend your money on mods! Here are a few to be thinking about : Clear side markers Fister D exhaust RoW M030 suspension or if you really want to step it up - PSS9/PSS10s Aero kit 997/GT3 shifter The list goes on...

POST 23Original post

Holy #$%^! WTF are you trying to do? I cant do half that much driving in over a year with mine. Hope you got a handle on the PM. BTW, very nice cab. Glad your enjoying it.

Great -- I just made the mistake of listening to the Fister D exhaust videos. Uh Oh!

POST 25Original post

The FisterD exhaust is such a GREAT mod, you will love the sound it makes!

POST 26 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I pulled into the garage today having put exactly 10,000 miles on the car. Absolutely remarkable, and altogether fun, automobile. So glad I did not garage it for the winter.

POST 29 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 11217299

Thanks -- car is riding on Cayman II 17" wheels for the winter. Quite sharp, actually, but the Sport Classics are my favorite.

POST 30Original post

Nice to hear you're still enjoying it! You've got plenty of fun miles still ahead.

POST 32Original post

I like the original side markers and rear tail lights the best for the 996 and I know I am in the minority. Enjoy the summer with your NEW Porsche convertible and welcome.
