Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The place that I'm using does a lot of Porsches so I'm hopeful that they will do a good job!

Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am contemplating getting a new soft top for my 2002 996. The exterior is Lapis Blue. The interior is full leather Graphite Grey. I assume that the original top colour is also Graphite Grey.
I'm told by the service manager at the local Porsche dealer that Graphite Grey shows wear very easily, so I'm contemplating whether I should stick with the original top colour or choose a different one.
I'm looking for suggestions on both colour choice as well as which colours wear better. The black tops I've seen seem to wear quite well and the folding marks are only visible close up. However, the combination of Lapis Blue and black is a bit like a bruise...
Picture of current top (still wet from washing)
My top is Metropol Blue (on a Ocean Blue Metallic Car). The fabric has held up very well, but the creases show a bit. (of course, the top is 15 years old)
Now the window is another story... I'd go with a glass one.
I have a Lapis Blue cab with the Metropol Blue top. I have a Savannah tan interior and the blue/tan go well together. With your grey interior, I might stick with a grey top though.
Thanks Spokayman. What I like about the dark top colours is that they show wear less from a distance. I found a 2002 brochure from the UK and it appears that three top colours were available: Black, Graphite Grey and Metropole Blue. At least in the UK, the only exterior blue paint colour was Lapis Blue, so I assume that the blue/blue combination shown in the picture below is Lapis Blue body/Metropole Blue top. I think it looks tasty.
I'm going to get the nose repainted first since that actually needs to be done. The top can wait so more time to procrastinate...
Yeah, Lapis and Metropol go very well together. The Metropol is slightly darker than the Lapis in most lighting conditions.
If you google Lapis blue Porsche, you will probably find all kinds of photos of blue/blue as well as other color combos.
My interior is Graphite Grey with Space Grey Leather (1999 Model Year)
Exterior is Ocean Blue Metallic
Top is Metropol Blue (original top)
Here's the only interior shot I could find quickly. Notice the lighter grey carpeting. I like the blue/grey combo.
I decided to go with the original colour. Total cost including redoing some Velcro and elastics on the headliner will be about $2k and should take 1-2 days. The place that I'm using does a lot of Porsches so I'm hopeful that they will do a good job!
