Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
I think there are several factors that come to play in your answer, and even the tire you are running makes a difference as some protrude further from the rim than others.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I think there are several factors that come to play in your answer, and even the tire you are running makes a difference as some protrude further from the rim than others. On different forums, I have read that many use 7MM in the front and 15MM in the back. The recommendation is to measure the distance between your tire and fender using a flat stick laid across your tire and measuring the gap to the fender.
There is a debate on whether spacers wider than 5MM can cause premature wear/damage to the wheel bearings, particularly if the car is tracked. Porsche uses 5MM spacers on some models from the factory, and so 5MM seems to be safe.
I second Spokayman's recommendation of measuring the gap between the tire and the fender lip, since everyone's definition of "flush" is just a little different. Most people do seem to do the 5/8mm in the front and 12/15mm in the rear to flush it out. It's really all about personal preference.
Hi,
I agonized over this for a long time.
I finally decided to consult with the master mechanic at my local dealer and the master mechanic at my local independent here.
For stock 18" rims that came with the car, Porsche recommends MAXIMUM 5mm spacers in the front and 17mm in the rear.
But because both shops do the safety / tech inspection for my car for track days - they know I track the car, so both were pretty clear I should stay at max 5mm all around.
I went with the 5mm all around kit from Porsche with the extended factory bolts with the floating collar - but I'm sure ECS has something similar.
I've got a set on order for my Cayman. 8MM front and 15MM rear.
I am concerned that the 8MM spacers don't have the wheel centering flange that the deeper 15MM spacers do, and that this might affect the ability to center the front wheel on the hub. We'll see how this turns out.
Thanks for the support Spokayman
We have run the 8mm spacers with no vibrations whatsoever. Because of the amount and diameter of hub available for the wheel to catch, we found no need for hub extensions below 10mm.
