Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

36 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Picked the C4S Friday. It is fabulous. What a brute of a car. Just amazing. I can see why people like the old ones. This one is refined but you can feel just enough in it to imagine what an old RS must have been like. Wow. I honestly love driving this car. Only two complains. The oil pressure sender went a bit wonky once. But hasn't seemed to do it again. And the AC needs charged. It still works. But it is not cold enough. It clearly leaked some freon over the winter. Will fill it and see if it lasts or if I have a more serious leak. Beyond that, just an amazing car. Trying to get pics to upload, but my files are too big.

POST 3Original post

Yes ! Congrats. I've 03 C4S the wide bodies are so beautiful. Looking forward to photos of yours. If you are a PC user Irfanview is a free tool to resize photos.

POST 4Original post

Wow, another new member, that's great. Pics would be nice to share the love.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

There it worked. The color came out wierd in t he pic. It is a really nice grey. I think I might change the wheels long term. But I agree with you all. The wide body 996 C4S is my favorite modern 911. It is just beautiful. God I love this car.

POST 7Original post

VERY nice - welcome to Rennlist and the PCar team. You'll love this driving experience. Locally where I live we pulled together a 24 car trip yesterday for a 4 hour drive. It's a blast sharing a drive with your buddy's.

Don't park so close to other cars...you might get dinged!!! Park out in the boonies like the rest of us. Welcome

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I will probably pick up a few dings. But I bought it drive. I have already driven it hard. I was worried about tickets but I think I will be okay. The fun of this car is acceleration and corning. The fun is hitting 90 on an on ramp or going from 65 to 90 passing someone not so much cruising at 100 mph. I think I would get more tickets with a big Merc S class or a big Jag rather than with this. I will say this, 4th and 5th gears are quite amazing gears in this car. The power range is just amazing, especially in 4th. From a standing start the acceleration is great but not out of control if you have been on a good motorcycle. But what a motorcycle doesn't have is the top en acceleration that this thing has.

Congratulations on your C4S! Did the pressure gauge drop to zero and send an Oil Failure message to your display but then it registered your pressure again correctly and the warning disappeared? That's a common problem with aging oil pressure sending units and there are a few threads here addressing it. My C4S did that a couple of times last summer, but then it became a common occurrence in late fall. I replaced the oil pressure sending unit ($82 part) over the winter when I change the plugs and coils. Others have posted they just cleaned the connections where the wires plug into the unit but I chose to swap it out. It's tricky to get too but if you want to DIY this site will have all the tips and tricks you need. Enjoy your new car!

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That is exactly what it is. I have read the DIY threads. It appears you need the right wrench to get the thing out. It definitely looks tricky. But even paying someone shouldn't require more than an hour or two of labor. The AC worries me more. I am not sure what to think. Some people seem to think these cars just naturally leak freon since there are so many hoses. But, generally a car shouldn't leak at all. I doubt if it is the evaporator since the PPI would have noticed that. Probably just a small leak, I hope.

750 Turbo, CBR1000RR and R1200RT. I'm not that insane. This guy is though. He is a club member doing a run on the Salt Flats on a Hayabusa (this is what happens when you go faster than the tire speed rating).

I love motorcycles. But all of them are fast enough to get you killed. Never wanted an old man cruiser. But I really don't see the point of the stupid fast ones like Hyabusas and Vmaxes and such.

I'd prob remove that porsche sticker on the rocker just in front of the rear wheel. Just My opinion.

POST 22 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 11216559

I plan to do just that. The guy blinged the car out. I bought it for its color and apparent mechanical condition. The bling has to go. He has a "Carrera" sticker on the windshield as well. It all needs to go. It is a beautiful car with a great color scheme. Why the previous owner blinged it out is beyond me.

POST 23Original post

Looks great! Seal Grey is my favorite color for the C4S (but I'm biased ) I had 19 inch wheels on mine but reverted back the oem 18s becuase the ride is much harsher on the 19s.

POST 24 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ideally, I would like to have two sets of wheels one for summer and one for winter. But that is a lot of cash.

I'd recommend that he get a new tire. That one is looking a little worn, and I don't think would pass the Abraham Lincoln penny tire tread depth test.

I wasn't sure if you meant that as a joke but that should be a mandatory question on all these introduction threads. Funny thing is the new guys will truthfully answer it most likely without hesitation.
