I have read on RL of those with the 3.4 prefer using a 3.6 can for the FisterD but not the other way around.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm looking to pick up a pair of used mufflers and have the Gundo hack done. Are the Mk2 mufflers specific to the 3.6 or could I use a pair coming off the earlier 1999-2001 with my 3.6? Search didn't turn up an answer. Are the piping sizes and mounting the same for Mk1 and Mk2 cans?

POST 2Original post

The cans are different but the pipe dia are the same. Mk1 cans were designed for the 3.4.....the 3.6 is for the Mk2. I have read on RL of those with the 3.4 prefer using a 3.6 can for the FisterD but not the other way around.

POST 3Original post

You can tell the difference because the 3.6 mufflers have a "flexible" section on the inlet. Look at post #15 here for a better description and a picture... https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...ii-design.html

POST 4Original post

the 3.6 cans give a slightly better tone when the hack is completed.

I've had both and I honestly could not tell....
