Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

In operation the motor sounds fine. Sunshade does close 100% with no drama. When the sunshade retracts for storage it will go to the fully open stop position. The issue is apx. 3 to 4 inches of the sunshade fabric is dropping down. Is there a way to increase tension on the sunshade roller? Thank you.

POST 2Original post

Is it drooping when "closed" i.e. when it is covering the glass and keeping the sun out? If so it sounds as though you may be missing the crossbar that sits about halfway along the length of the shade when closed. It glides back with the shade when the shade rolls up.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The tension bar that slides is intact and operating as designed. When fully closed the sun shade is properly tensioned and does not sag or droop. The sun shade motor will pull the sun shade end guides to their resting open stop position. The sun shade fabric stops short causing the droop. The next chance I get I will provide a picture. The Targa is at the garage awaiting marriage with its engine.

POST 4Original post

Ah I get it now. You're going to have to remove the shade and wind up the retracting spring a bit. I strongly suggest replacing the shade altogether, with one for a 997 targa. Be HYPER careful with the little plastic bits, they get brittle with age.
