Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
The Litronics have an extra connector to adjust the angle of the headlamps when the high beams are activated, or when driving across elevation changes.
Leading evidence: 'Use amber halogen ones' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Adjust angle of the headlamps' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I’m with you I just picked up a set of very clean amber tails so I want amber litronics for my 99 aero

I just did Adrian's retrofit kit and it's ridiculously clean, easy and incredibly bright.

It should be a plug-and-play replacement by simply changing the headlamps.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Currently I have a 2001 996.1 with white Litronic head lights and recently got used amber Halogen ones. Has anyone done a similar conversion? (Im doing this simply for the look so ok to lose better functions of Litronic. Already have amber side markers and taillights and just missing the headlights!) Does anyone have experience of going backwards like this? What other parts are needed if any? Also what needs to be done to avoid error messages? Would very much appreciate any insights!
It should be a plug-and-play replacement by simply changing the headlamps.
The Litronics have an extra connector to adjust the angle of the headlamps when the high beams are activated, or when driving across elevation changes. You can leave these unplugged when switching to the halogens.
If you have leveling sensors, then there
might
be a pair of trouble codes in the headlamp control module about the unplugged connectors, but maybe not. I dont think its likely youll get a warning message on the dash, though.
Just so you know, I dont have any experience in converting a Litronics 996.1 to halogens - I went in the other direction (halogens to Litronics), so maybe someone else with experience can chime in. But Im sure you wont cause any major issues by doing this.
No issues. Plug and play.
If you ran diagnostics on it you would see an error in the module. No warning lights on the dash. I swapped in halogens to my track car and then covered them.
My 996.1 has Litronic headlights. I just did Adrian's retrofit kit and it's ridiculously clean, easy and incredibly bright. It is everything I'd hoped for. There is no scenario that I'd downgrade to halogen from where I am after the retrofit kit.
Why do you want to go to halogen?
Because I have Amber tail lights, and side markers so wanted to complete the full amber retro look.(which I prefer to white lights). So doing this for the aesthetic reasons only.
