Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that report identifying a cause

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Reported cause
I have driven to Switzerland from London and the only problem is on the ferry when people open their doors and aren't carful.
Leading evidence: 'on the ferry' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'on the ferry' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean safe, convenient and no one can park next' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I agree - use the tunnel - you'll never take the ferry again.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I ve got a holiday booked to Switzerland . I live in England and cant decide whether to take the 996 or family car (PAssat) on the ferry and drive through France.
Im worried about the ferry trip and any possible damage to the car .
HAs anyone done this journey and are the roads in France / Switzerland any good for my 911???
I have driven to Switzerland from London and the only problem is on the ferry when people open their doors and aren't carful. Cause you park next to each other like in a parking lot.
By the way the roads in Switzerland are amazing, every road looks like it was laid yesterday. Perfectly black tar with brilliant white lines :-)
Use the tunnel, if you are worried about the car. The tunnel takes no time, be careful of speeding in France they can be nasty over there, I am told from people in Belgium, that around the boarders is worst - hard on the spot fines. Switzerland is cool, make sure you take the route through Reims, France - Champagne country, take a tour or two around a Champagne factory. Stay the night, - it's worth it.
Good luck.
You should definitely take your 911. I was in France two years ago but couldn't take my 911 from New York or afford the $900 a day it cost to rent one. Wherever I went I kicked myself that I didn't have a chance to drive the roads in a 911, especially when I was getting passed left and right by 996's all over the place.
Hi!
Take the tunnel! you wont be nervous about the door's dings.
Anyways take a good insurance in case of..
The motorways in France are excellent, and not too much radar controls. People are nice also.
Your 911 'll love Switzerland.
Also the Motorways and mountain roads will be made for it. . <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />
You won't regret it. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" />
I am glad to see that not every one on the board is rationale! Hatred by television reportage isn't good.
Sure they appeared to be acting in their own self interest but I think you will find its more to do with hypocrisy and double standards that being morally corrupt.
I have met nice French people as well as not so nice, I don't know enough USA folk to pass judgement.
I think you will find that its governments that we all disagree most with though!
Peter
Been away, only just seen your post.
Take the 996. The opportunity is too good to miss. As the other guys say the tunnel is great and no chance of any damage. The roads are great (BUT don't use a radar detector in France) and you won't believe how little traffic there is and how few roadworks. Last year we did over 3k miles round France, Switzerland and Italy. The only roadworks we saw were just outside Folkstone on the M20!

If you get a chance do the loop round Mont Blanc - Annecy, Megeve, Montreux and then on through to St Moritz....... ah! I really envy you.
