Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Replace front axles' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Repair ecu doctors' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I purchased my C4S in September of 2023 with the idea of running one or two HPDE events a year. My wife gave me a budget and I bought the nicest less than 100k mile car I saw at the time. The only problem is that it was a TIP. After the first HPDE using the TIP I knew that wasn't going to last as the shifting was just too slow and downshifting unpredictable. I started acquiring the items to make the swap. I started in June of last year and it seems to never stop. Below is the list of what I've done over the last year and what I've got left for this year, hopefully no other new parts prove to be as problematic as the AOS and waterpump. 3 HPDEs this fall so I need to get to work. And in the meantime a "friend" gave me his turbo miata autoX car, just because I needed another project in my retirement.

The 996 GT3 master cylinder is the same as what you have. The 997 GT3/Turbo one has a larger bore and would give a harder pedal. This one also doesn't play nice with PSM. It requires a brake proportioning valve in the front master cyl circuit. Or you can unplug the PSM pump. If you do neither you will get an ABS fault that disables both PSM and ABS, which can be rather surprising.
It's a 997 gt3, and I had read the 2018 thread about upgrading, but missed the section about the 4s throwing a code on psm cars. I'll have to do some more reading. My current pedal is somewhat soft even with new pads. It causes so.e issues with heel toe as I have throttle pedal extensions.
Do you already have stainless braided brakehoses? Those with some good brakefluid (for example Motul Race600) makes also a big difference on eliminating the soft brake pedal.
In the end about $4k to do it right with correct factory hoses. Time is relative because I'm semi retired and don't keep track of time any more. But I think if you worked at it and had all the equipment ready it could be done in a week.
The electronics are pretty easy. Running wires from the pedal box to the ecu, running the reverse switch. Modifying a connector on the gauge cluster for cruise control. But you have to get a manual gauge cluster, and that is getting harder to find.
I felt it was worth it for me as this car was very well taken care of by the previous 2 owners. And the engine has been pretty well sorted now.
$4,000 for the swap from Tip? Did you include a clutch? /s
Did you rebuild the clutch and transmission?
I was looking at this idea and came up with cost estimate of 2x. My car is a thing of beauty to my eye but I'd love to swap out the Tip, even though it works flawlessly
Bought the transmission used, did not repair it. It came from a 4s cab so I figured it probably hadn't been flogged to badly. New church and flywheel. I'm sure you could slender 2x b but I know I was between 4 & 5k. You can find almost all of it used. Except for the clutch lines, those will cost you.
