To make a long story short, I was using a shop at Federal Mogul wich was equipped with everything you could possibly imagine, yet I still found myself yanking, hitting, pulling, pushing and yelling to get things to fit where they should.

Suggestion

B/c you are using the stock shock with a shorter spring, the shock therefore is always in, or closer to preload, rather than dampening.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

H&R springs went on my 99 C2 with otherwise stock suspension. Its a daily driver (I live in suburban Detroit...roads are not unlike the average war torn third world country's)-springs are as far as I should go. Not to mention, I race a 125cc kart. So I need some compliance during the week. Anyhow, it was quite a pain in the *** to get accomplished. I thought that dealing with the ball joints would be my only hurdle. Not as such. To make a long story short, I was using a shop at Federal Mogul wich was equipped with everything you could possibly imagine, yet I still found myself yanking, hitting, pulling, pushing and yelling to get things to fit where they should. The results, however, are quite pleasing. The ride over bumps remains unchanged, maybe a tiny, tiny, bit stiffer, but just barely enough to notice. It's a bit more flat on entry, more stable mid turn, and easier to rotate throughout. Less 'floaty'. The ride height is exactly what it should be. Not too low, not too high. It looks just right. Doesn't look 'slammed', but defintaely a bit more aggressive. I'll post pictures today I hope.

POST 2Original post

I also have H&R springs installed. There is one problem though. B/c you are using the stock shock with a shorter spring, the shock therefore is always in, or closer to preload, rather than dampening. Just be mindful of bumbs when approaching and during high speed turns. There have been a few Porsches crashing in high speed turns in my area b/c of the shoter suspension. The best way would be to go with coil overs.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

If we had any turns in Michigan, I would be worried. But there aren't. All the roads are straight, flat, and broken. I want to move.

POST 4Original post

Come to Florida. The roads are smooth, but straight and flat (boring). I've got the H&R's with no problems here. And we can do Driver ed track events all year round. Regards, Mike

POST 5Original post

P1CR, Come out here to my neighborhood, only 45 minutes away and lots of fun winding roads!

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Your neighborhood? What good is only 45 minutes from here? Tell me more!

POST 7Original post

I have H&R springs on my car. Love the look and the feel! I agree, not too floaty. Michigan roads are same as in Western Ontario, pot holes and frost heaves everywhere and straight.

I have H&R springs and while driving through some twisties on a smooth back road I came to a curve at high speed that had an abrupt dip in the middle of it...my C4 with PSM had a small hiccup in its stability and I suspect that if I were going anyfaster the rear was coming around. I actually felt the car get loose after emerging from the dip. What coilovers are reccomended for a daily driver?

POST 9Original post

Carerra4_PRDATR, ah, the rear end loose....that's the way porsche's were designed to be driven...originally anyway.

However, not the way this event played it self out...with the azz of my Porsche in the on coming lane of traffic especially in a C4 with PSM. I did not expect that...I think if I was in a drift it might have been disasterous.
