Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I replaced all the vacuum hoses and am good to go!
Leading evidence: 'Replace vacuum hoses and am good' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check vacuum lines and valve electrical connections' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.

Suggestion
Most likely you need to remove the alternator to check the vacuum lines and valve electrical connections.

These tests don't run all the time and it stores the last run (failed) values.

I am getting Mode $06 test codes shown below on a '99 cab 996.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm not sure if this will work but maybe someone can save me a painful trip to the dealer.
I am getting Mode $06 test codes shown below on a '99 cab 996.
Is it possible for someone with a PST2 to decode these? Its a crime that the TIDs and CIDs are not shared publicly by Porsche BTW. At least knowing what CID $03 and CID $04 are would be very helpful.
Many thanks in advance!
TID:$03 CID:$03
- Low sensor Voltage for switch time calculation
Min: 19
Test result value: 3
FAIL
----
TID:$03 CID:$04
- Low sensor Voltage for switch time calculation
Min: 19
Test result value: 1
FAIL
Thanks b8. I also get the below code. The thing is these codes seem to be very manufacturer specific.
TID:$05 CID:$0d
- Rich to Lean sensor switch time(calculated)
Max: 34,268
Test result value: 32,768
PASS
----
Mode $6 is always manufacturer specific so forget about those false translations. The Porsche DME7.8 definitions:
TID:$03 Secondary Air System (SAI)
CID:$01 - Secondary air system, bank 1 Relative secondary air mass
CID:$03 - no data from me
CID:$04 - Secondary air system, bank 2 Relative secondary air mass
"The relative secondary air mass is the measured secondary air mass
relative to the expected nominal value (optimal value) in this operating
point. The optimal value is detected with a faultless system. The
nominal value is primarily dependent on exhaust backpressure,
geographical altitude and voltage supply.
A fault is present if the relative secondary air mass does not exceed the
diagnosis threshold value.
The values displayed can be multiplied by the factor 0.0078 to find the
applied values."
I'm guess your DME5.x TID$03CID$03 is referring to bank 1.
These tests don't run all the time and it stores the last run (failed) values. So even though your CEL is not currently ON, it may turn on again after a few drive cycles if the SAI fault is still there.
TID$05 is Fuel tank ventilation system (EVAP)
CID$0d is Minor leak (leakage volumetric flow)
The PASS value means your minor leak test and ALL THE OTHER EVAP tests were performed and they all passed.
Hmmm. You may be on the right track. This all started when I removed the alternator. I may have upset the SAI system in the process. According to GM (file:///Users/sgurney/Downloads/GM%20OBD%20II%20Mode%206.pdf) the codes refer to:
03 04 1-Low AIR valve shut pressure error test bank 1
03 05 0-High AIR pump off pressure error test bank 1
Its also throwing code P0410....
All pointing to the SAI system.
My info was from the factory manual so I trust it
As I said, forget about looking up those codes from other manufacturers. These TID/CID values have diff meanings across car manufacturers. These are all defined by the manufacturers themselves.
And yes, I've been replying to your other thread on SAI as well. Most likely you need to remove the alternator to check the vacuum lines and valve electrical connections.
Thanks. I took out the Alternator and am working through this to diagnose the SAI.
Air injection pump works (I hear the vacuum whine on cold start).
Air change-over valve works great!
Electric change-over valve works great!
Not sure where to go with this now... The hoses/ vacuum lines all seem to be in good shape.
When you say those valves are good, did you try to blow into the hose that connects to the air pump and make sure you can blow through it when you activate valve #3? Did you use a hand vacuum pump to supply vacuum to #7?
If you did the above already, the only things left are the vacuum source and the power to the electric valve #3. Can you verify the vacuum reservoir #6 holds vacuum when you use a vacuum pump to suck from #7?
This is finally resolved. A vacuum hose had slipped off part of the SAI system. I replaced all the vacuum hoses and am good to go! No nasty error codes.
