Suggestion

My guess would be the microswitch as well, but, I would disconnect the battery for an hour then go through the process of "teaching" the windows the upper and lower limits.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've got a 2002 Porsche 996TT that just developed an odd window malfunction. When I pull the door handle on the driver side from the outside or inside, the window lowers a bit (as it should) but when I let go of the handle, the window goes back to full height (as it should not). This results in the top back section of the window seating on the outside of the window seal when I try to shut the door. The passenger side works fine. This first happened when I was replacing my sway bar end links. With the front end of the car on jack stands, I opened the door, inserted the key and switched the ignition to "on" in order to be able to turn the steering wheel to get better access to the end link hardware. When I tried to shut the door, the window was going up and down erratically. The battery was connected the entire time. Hoping someone can help here...

POST 2Original post

Door latch microswitch is faulty. Very common. A search should bring up some troubleshooting info.

POST 3Original post

My guess would be the microswitch as well, but, I would disconnect the battery for an hour then go through the process of "teaching" the windows the upper and lower limits. Push the down button and when the window is down continue to hold the down button for 10 seconds. Then do the same for up. See if that helps.
