Even so, there is no way to clean every last nook and cranny but I did the best I could without removing what I assume is the ABS unit.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Any special trick to getting this off the cylinder? I pushed in the latches and it popped loose but no matter how hard I pull it will not come off the fitting on the end of the cylinder. Oh, the stupid latch broke on one side so I guess I'll be replacing it also... photo.JPG

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Does the red piece come out with the hose or stay on the fitting? It looks like it may be corroded to the fitting... photo(1).JPG

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Got it! The red piece has to be pushed into the orange piece for it to release.

So I ordered a new feed line that runs from the brake master cylinder to the clutch master cylinder. Then I drained the BMC well below the drain point for the feed line so when I pulled it out I wouldn't have brake fluid all over the inside of the sheetmetal: photo(2).JPG Then I went to Sears and purchased a set of line AC/fuel line disconnect gadgets to push in the grey ring and release the feed line: photo(4).JPG photo(3).JPG But when I pulled the line out brake fluid poured out of the master cylinder somehow and I had to spend 10 minutes and a roll of paper towels and degreaser to clean it up. Even so, there is no way to clean every last nook and cranny but I did the best I could without removing what I assume is the ABS unit. The moral of this story is to drain the BMC until no more will come out and place towels underneath before you remove the feed line. I also have an ominous feeling the new line is gonna be a pain to feed thru the grommet in the trunk to the CMC...
