Suggestion
If you are an interior fanatic, you will want to stay away from the 99 WITHOUT the full leather package (leather on dash, doors, etc.) They used a cheap looking basketball style finish in that year on the standard interior.

I figured about $500 in discounted dealer parts to do this before I found my car that solved the problem.
If you are an interior fanatic, you will want to stay away from the 99 WITHOUT the full leather package (leather on dash, doors, etc.) They used a cheap looking basketball style finish in that year on the standard interior. The 2000 and 2002 went to different (much nicer looking) finishes for all plastics and surfaces.
I have a 99 with full supple leather and the full carbon fiber package. It completely negates the quality/appearance issues on the 99. In 99, the trim was pretty cheap looking too (around vents, center console, etc.) The carbon fiber negates this.
I just posted a pic of my interior under the heading Customer Cab Stereo Just Installed. You will see what I mean. The full leather is a MUST in a 99. You can swap out the other main trim pieces in a 99 with an 01 (02 slightly different fit on some pieces). I figured about $500 in discounted dealer parts to do this before I found my car that solved the problem.
Again, the interior is not an issue on the 99 unless it is missing the full leather. Full leather is probably on 50% of the cars though. It is quite common especially in that year.
Every preowned 99-01 that I looked at had a scuffed up hood/rear deck release which was redesigned in 02. Also, the 02's have a cupholder and a 3 spoke steering wheel as standard equipment. Hope this helps...
