Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

2 months ago, someone on this forum send me a link to a Yellow Porsche 01 that was for sale. I called the person & he said that someone came and bought it for under 65k. This porsche has so many upgrades, GT3 Seats, Wheel upgrade, Brembo upgrade, header modification +12 horses, Fabspeed exhaust, aluminum pedals, yellow stiching on Dash, roll cage inside, NO SUNROOF though, i found this car at a exotic dealer in orange county, they are asking 76k, i gave them offer of 66k, they said that i don't know the porsche market, i was hesitating to tell the guy about how i knew about this car, but i finally told the salesguy that this car was sold under 65k & i talked to the orig owner & all that. I know for 99% that this dealership went to the guy & paid him Cash. and now they wanna sell it higher, what is the right price for this car guys & how much should i pay max? does header work on the engine void the warranty? Please help me out. the porsche is back.

POST 3Original post

First of all, the Porsche market is very soft. Reported new cars sales have been off every month of 2003. Dealers that used to have waiting lists, now have '02 and '03 cars sitting on their lots. This is especially true for standard coupes and cabs (the C4S is selling well). There are a ton of used 99-01 cars on the market that have come off lease and this has driven down used car prices considerably. I sold a low mileage 99 coupe equiped very similar to this but with even more mods for $55K in January. Not everyone wants a track car like this, so the market is limited. Since you know what the car sold for, offer the dealer what you think is a reasonable profit on top of that and if he won't take it, walk. There are plenty of cars out there like this one. Karl

As I was thinking on how to answer this properly, Karl beat me to it...that's great advice.

Check out the ads at www.pca.org. There is a speed yellow 01 996 C4 with similar mods for sale. You can also get an idea of the prices in general from those ads. Also check ebay to get a feel for prices. Hope this helps and best of luck, Mike

POST 7Original post

Walk away and wait for the dealer to call you. Or, wait for another one. There are MANY nice cars for sale to reasonably low prices.

POST 9Original post

This may sound a little negative but what's wrong with a dealer charging more than he paid? That's what dealers are in business for. I don't know if the asking price you stated is too high or not but that is up for negotiation. Just because you missed out on the great deal and the dealer capitalized doesn't make the dealer a bad guy. Make him a reasonable offer and go from there.
