Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

all,
just put a deposit down on a high mileage 2001 996 silver/black down in san francisco - i was searching for a 996 turbo but my son starting college put a dent in that idea.
the car attracted my attention months ago - my friend who lives in the bay area told me about the car and it wasn't advertised.
one owner with high mileage - 138K lots of great options and looks like it is new. i've been in negotiations with the sellers mechanic who is representing the car - the car has been fully serviced with all documentation - the owner purchased new 991 and was holding firm on what i thought was a ridiculous asking price of $16K.
fast forward 3 months and i decided to revisit the car - spoke to the mechanic and car was covered and stored in his shop and still available.
i made an offer last night and he accepted. purchased my plane ticket and i pick it up on the 20th of march 6 days after my 55th birthday.
looking forward to having that 996 in my garage.
I don't see any harm in asking "THE" question. You know it's on everyones mind. And think how happy
it makes everyone to here he has 138k and is still on the original IMS.
i think your "jumping" guy is going to take a crap when he finds out his car w/high mileage is worth about $11K
BTW - the IMS/AOS/clutch/coils were done at 120K miles
Hey Groove haven't heard from you in a while. Good to see your going back in the 996 groove so to speak. Sounds like you got a good deal and since I know you usually keep these cars for about 1 or 2 years max you have the joy of starting the next search as of today.
i gotta say, i've taken a good beating over in the OT forum for you guys - only 4 people welcomed me back? i mean, i know it was smart of those members to dump the IMS problematic 996, but they don't stay in touch?
i was going to tell you about my story finding 40,000 pre-a porsche scripts i discovered in my backyard but prematurely told story in the OT forum
i guess i'll save it for another time ...and please don't tell anyone - they are stamped "sunset porsche" on the back and apparently worth $1400@
thx - will post fotos next week - taking my wife to napa for some champagne on the way home - her favorite gloria ferrer
btw, my 59 airstream is named "gloria the silver unshaved queen"
