Suspected cause

IIRC there is a clutch return assist coil spring, it's likely the coils are rubbing a certain way to cause what sounds like a click, lubricate with some white lithium grease and see if it works.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi I've done some research but I wanted to get some opinions When I push my clutch pedal in all of the way, as it nears the end of its travel, the pressure changes slightly (gets easier), and it makes a loud click. The click comes from the exterior of the vehicle near the pedal box Do I just need to lubricant something or is the spring (or something else) broken? Thanks! Brian

POST 2Original post

Click is Normal. I live with it. Actually I know that i disengaged the clutch fully when I hear the click.

POST 3Original post

I also have the click, my mechanic said its nothing to worry about.

POST 6Original post

No way as quote, a 'loud clicking noise' can be normal and 'nothing to worry about'. Live with it if you can but it would do my head in (thats if it's not already done in by some of you posters) hahaha. Does the car need a clutch change? is the clutch spring at fault? I mean a car leaving Stuttgart doesn't make a clicking noise does it?

POST 7Original post

POST 8Original post

There is a mechanical sensor at the very end of the clutch travel. This is the sensor that allows for ignition when closed (clutch fully pressed). Both my old Boxster and my current 996 have this. I have tried oil, but the click is coming from inside the sensor. It is very annoying in my opinion. Test it for yourself. With the car in neutral turn the key for ignition, then go slowly through the clutch travel. If you are experiencing the same click I am, your engine will turn immediately after you hear the click.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well for whatever reason the noise is gone. Not sure what happened or why. I did change out the motor mounts. But I don't think that solved the problem
