Calling on fellow Rennlisters for help/advice. I badly need rear tires for my 987 Boxster. On my way back to Austin from a trip to Big Bend. Any Rennlisters or friends in the Fort Stockton area with some 265/40 x18 tires (or something close) in the garage? I'm stuck here until I find tires, so even a long-shot recommendation would be appreciated. Many thanks! UPDATE: No tires within 300 miles, so I'm having TireRack overnight some tires. Another night in Fort Stockton beats a blowout on I-10 in the middle of the desert. Thanks all.

Try craigslist, you can sometimes get takeoff or used tires there. Enough to get you mobile today. Check the date codes though. Good luck.

Thanks all. Byprodriver, I thought the same thing (about the Firestone track), but they proved impossible to reach and the Firestone/Bridgestone dealer in town can't get my size for "3-4 days." TireRack saves the day.

You could buy 2 new front tires of your choice & mount on rear wheels till you get home.
