Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I changed my so2's and had to go about 1000km to say they're behaving normally, especially the tramlining..
Leading evidence: 'Replace so2's and had' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check diffrence' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

So re-check the tire's pressures to be sure and wait until at least 1000km on S02's like Waz said to make any conclusions.

The rear right same spec Bridgestone is only 15% worn, so I didn't want to replace both.

Suggestion
I think the different grip in the rears is the case like you are expecting and you need to run the new tyre 500 km to match the grip.

Is the PSM over-compensating for the different grip in the rears & how long do you think I should have to run the new tyre in before feeling safe again ?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've just put 1 new rear left Bridgestone S02 on my C4 after a puncture. The rear right same spec Bridgestone is only 15% worn, so I didn't want to replace both. Now, on fast rh bends, I often get a sudden brief but alarming sensation of understeer which I never noticed before the new tyre.
Now I'm used to 2 wheel drive 911's with no PSM, and expect the handling to be a little extra twitchy for a while after new tyres, but this is something else. Is the PSM over-compensating for the different grip in the rears & how long do you think I should have to run the new tyre in before feeling safe again ? Thanks for any advice.
I think the different grip in the rears is the case like you are expecting and you need to run the new tyre 500 km to match the grip. This is from my point of view, i understand why you didn't change the other tyre but it is always recommended to do so, try for some kms and find the difference.
Thanks for the replies.
I'm tempted to drive round with the PSM off for a while to see if the handling is more predictable.
I know I can't improve on PSM, but I don't like the sudden intervention in driving feel that I'm getting at the moment. (Hope this doesn't turn out to be a big mistake!) Any thoughts ?
I don't think its the PSM since its not that easy ton engage, it only comes on when you are really loosing it. Did you see the dash PSM light come on? but the best way to check is to take the same fast rt bends without it and see. Like Fadz, I'm more inclined to think its the grip diff of the new tire. So re-check the tire's pressures to be sure and wait until at least 1000km on S02's like Waz said to make any conclusions.
Not sure about this but in my experience (changing to SO2s from Yokohama) I noticed they felt a little "squishy" under hard cornering by comparison. In retrospect I think that sensation had more to do with the tread depth than actual performance. They had a more "spongy" feel at the edge but I could push them just as hard before any give. I definitely prefer them in the wet! Perhaps give the new SO2 a few hundred miles and see if it feels better... and I probably don't have to mention it but make sure the pressure is identical, even a slight inflation difference will be quite noticeable at the edge.
