I turned to the right at the "T", and took another right to point it up a street that went uphill, where it coasted to a stop, and I set the handbrake.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've had a few oddballs in there!
I really miss the Alfa, the Thunderbird and the Saab the most of all of them. Many of the others were "driving appliances" that were necessary for that stage of my life.
Saab made a nice car, but they lost themselves over the years. I read the Chinese company that bought them is producing an terrible hybrid version for the chianes market. .
I probably have the shortest list that spans 20 years and more then likely shorter then most with only half that.

Then the replacements, my C4S and hers. She traded in the Discovery for the Range Rover

I felt like a badass in high school with that thing...
I fit 4 people in the trunk with room to spare when I had a doctors note to leave campus; for lunch (my mom wrote me a note- has a different last name and the school never caught on that my physician was my mom). I'd wave my slip at the attendant and they'd let me pass. Around the block I'd let my friends out of the trunk (gotta love auto leveling suspension) and we'd go out to chipotle for lunch and then come back after lunch break was over.

'Seems I've always got to have one pickup and one or two fun cars around at all times.
1959 Elva Courier (sold to pay for graduate school)
1960 Plymouth Valiant (yes, you could buy a car for $100 in So Cal in 1966)
1964 VW (w/ 90 BHP Treuhaft engine-what I did with half of my student loan)
1974 Alfa Romeo Alfasud
1984 Chevrolet Cavalier
1980 911SC Targa (lost #2 cylinder at 375,000+ miles)
2002 911 Carrera (coolest thing—200 MPH speedometer)
60 is the number of horsepower the1.1L put out which was the upgraded version from 55 by a bigger Weber carburator. Then the 65 EFI was released and that was the one imported into US. POS does not describe this car, no words can describe how bad this "car" was. Should've beeb banned at the start.
The current fleet is an Acura MDX (winter driver and all season cargo vessel) and the 996.
Here's a few of the more noteworthy cars from past fleets .. I'm skipping over some people movers, one or two trucks, a few beaters, several bikes, and the occasional hooptie ;-)
'67 Pontiac Tempest -- my high school car, inherited from Mom. Overhead Cam 6, 2 speed Powerglide transmission, and I was glad to have it.
'68 Fiat 850 -- a goofy little rear engined sedan with a 903cc Abarth mill. 0 to 30 took forever, then things got interesting. Lots of fun until I missed a shift and it made the Bad Sound.
'64-1/2 Ford Mustang -- The One that Got Away. An early production car I bought when I was in college. Sold it in the early '80's when I moved to Silicon Valley.
'80 Honda Civic -- a top of the line 1500GL with the 1.5 liter, 67 hp four. The first new car I ever owned. Drove it cross country. Twice.
'87 Porsche 944 -- Guards Red (weren't they all?). The epitome of '80's cool, at least on my budget. The only problem I had in 6 years was a seized water pump.
'83 Toyota Tercel 4x4 wagon -- my first great winter car. It had an extra-low first gear and I once drove it through a 2 foot snowbank ... the only problem was seeing out the windshield because there was so much snow coming up over the hood.
'84 Toyota FJ60 Land Cruiser -- the finest winter beast ever, notwithstanding the 13mpg fuel economy. 4 wheel drive, manual locking hubs, and a defroster that could melt the polar ice cap. 137 hp mill with a 4000 rpm red line. I sold it with 160k on the clock and it's probably still running.
'92 Ford Taurus SHO -- Good News: a high revving 3.0 liter, 24 valve DOHC V6 (built by Yamaha). Bad News: everything else.
'97 Toyota T100 -- 4x4, V6, five speed. Underpowered and dismissed by real Truck People, but surefooted in winter and *zero* problems in the twelve years I owned it. On balance, the best truck I ever owned.
'68 Pontiac GTO -- GTO didn't really stand for "gas, tires, and oil." But it could've.
'04 Mazda RX8 -- The rotary engine was huge fun (like a piston engine with a really low mass flywheel), and this may have been the best handling car I've ever owned. Unfortunately, the build quality stunk. I sold it back to Mazda as part of a class action settlement.
'04 Nissan 350Z -- AKA The Zed. Good looks, great reliability; all in all, a pretty good touring car for the money. IMO, a great used car value if you can find one that remains unmolested.
'08 Infiniti M35x -- the best luxury sedan nobody knows about.
There might be a few more but this is most of them:

1982 Nissan 280 ZX

I am sure I'm forgetting a few of the cars. And, by way of explanation, I'm old enough that if you get a car or a bike every year or so, this isn't too outlandish.

It's an addiction. But I love things mechanical, and my wife is understanding.
I owned it in 1983, at the time I was finishing college. It had been stored in a barn in the NE for 15 years, and needed a fair bit of work, including replacing rusting bodywork.
At the time, 356s were as cheap as dirt, and nearly all parts were available, but at high prices (compared to nearly the same part for VWs).
It had a single hydraulic circuit for the brakes, and one day the reservoir cracked at the connection to the master cylinder, and the fluid leaked out as I was going down a hill at 40 MPH. There was a "T" intersection at the bottom of the hill, and when I applied the pedal, it went all the way to the floor without decelerating the car at all.
I turned to the right at the "T", and took another right to point it up a street that went uphill, where it coasted to a stop, and I set the handbrake. Losing all brakes is a sobering experience.
I sold it for the same price I purchased it for, after two years of ownership, but getting it into good shape would have cost at least the amount I purchased it for, and that wasn't in the cards.
I have a warm spot in my heart for a ~1962 T6 356B S90. I worked for a gentleman in SF who owned one, and it was truly lust worthy. For me, the desire for Porsches goes back a long way.
Good times.
That is funny. You'd think it would be British Racing Green! This is only my third blue car. First was my A4 (company car wayhay!), then the Focus. After my A6, I vowed to never have another black car especially in the PNW - way too much effort to make it look nice!

Assortment of family cars
I think my total number of cars was about 120--a lot of fun rides.
Cars I didn't buy included a $1500 Shelby mustang (very rough riding) $3500 300sl mercedes -gullwing-afraid of fi and no MB dealer within 200 miles.
Imho- best looking were the xke and xk-120. 63 sting ray and 996 not bad either. This xk was abandoned in a field for a number of years. Took years to restore.
Some owned simultaneously:
1992 Pontiac Gram Am GT 5 speed (sold)
1996 Honda Civic EX 5 speed (sold)
1993 Honda Civic CX hatch 5 speed (sold)
1984 Audi 4000CS Quattro 5 speed (sold)

1964 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe 4 speed (327ci/365HP solid lifter totally stock/restored inherited) would trade for 993, any GT3, or 997 mk2 variant
1969 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe 4 speed (427/390HP L36 totally stock/restored inherited) would trade for a 993, any GT3, or 997 mk2 variant
2002 BMW M3 coupe
It's clear all of us are real car lovers. With some serious performance cars past and present. I would assume most would put their Porsche towards the top of the list?
Thanks. It has been great fun to own so many cars. Some for many years and some like a 1966 mustang fastback for two months. After a Porsche, the mustang felt so bad on rough roads-falcon roots. Also had a 240z. Nice but no soul.
I still find the Porsches amazing. The 996 is the best all around car I have ever found. I also really like my 964 which I have had for 10 years. I did keep a least one Porsche over most the past 40 plus years. My wife is very tolerant and enjoys cars. I also forgot the 1963 2600 Alfa sprint which is a big Alfa similar to a DB6.

Nice jog down memory lane. The only brand new ones were the Eclipse, the Civic and A4, but it's pretty easy to see the A4 started the German love affair.
