Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The stock grill/bumper is what I have and just installed the gt3 rad.

I just removed mine as I installed the gt3 radiator this last weekend.

Suggestion
If you have a 3.4l you should get the kit and put it in at the same time, it make the car run much cooler, and if you really get on it it doesn't retard the timing nearly as much!

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I noticed that the lower center section of the bumper skin isn't cut through like the sides are. I've seen folks talk about installing a 3rd radiator and then cutting out the that center section, but I have no intention of adding another radiator.
Thus, my question...If I cut that out does it have any negative affect. If I don't cut it out I may just paint it black while the rest will be Arena Red Mettalic.
Phattey...
If you cut it out be careful it is easy to nick the cover that it goes in and you will see it. I just removed mine as I installed the gt3 radiator this last weekend. It is held in by an adhesive, so inless you want to glue it back in, then, yeah. I think it looks pretty cool with it out, but then again if you don't have the radiator and there is bare metal behind it then that might not look so hot. something to consider. What is going to be behind it and how dirty it is going to get with it open and how hard it is to clean. I think that after that notion I would not take it out unless I put in the radiator. If you have a 3.4l you should get the kit and put it in at the same time, it make the car run much cooler, and if you really get on it it doesn't retard the timing nearly as much!
What cover are you talking about....a cover that goes in the center section?
I know the original one has a cover thingy, but that dosen't come off the original bumper...does it??
Leave it in. The front bumper on all 986s and 996s is a great collector of leaves, rubber, and other trash. The more exposure, the more junk you're going to collect in your radiators. I cover all three (I had the 3rd radiator) of my openings with wire mesh to protect against this.
Karl
Exactly, Karl said it best. That is why I advised against it. Tips and the powerkit x50/x51 cars have the third radiator as well as the gt3 and I am sure some others. The stock grill/bumper is what I have and just installed the gt3 rad. You remove the center from behind, a real pain in the *** btw. I would definitely not do it after seeing how much junk was in my radiators, it would just create additional areas for collection.
I think I'll simply have the center section painted black. Then paint the rest the color of the car.
That way it still looks okay and I'm not picking up turtles and frogs...
Thanks..Phattey

I don't think there is a "cover" for the center section. At least on my bumper. Instead the section is solid, as if for a manual trans. If I had a tip, I would have to cut that section out, carefully.
If I had've ordered this at the time the car was built, I'm guessing Porshe would have cut out the section for the tip, and perhaps have painted the section black for a manaual. But now that's my job.
Phattey..
I just looked at my friend's original bumper, that's a 6spd C2 & there is a black plastic cover at the center section identical size to the aero kit's center section...
